For many communities, our small businesses are working truly at an "independent" level, trying their best to succeed and in some cases, to just stay afloat without an active support system in place to help them address needs and market opportunities.

While overall economic development efforts in communities of all sizes don't always include attention and support to small business and even more specifically, to mom & pops, Main Street is all about strengthening our existing local economy by supporting our downtown entrepreneurs.

From developing retail promotions that work, to cutting-edge tools that add understanding on trends and best practices, this session will highlight important strategies to not only position your Main Street program as a valuable partner, but consciously build a strong supportive environment for the success of our downtown entrepreneurs.
Missouri Main Street Connection
Is Excited To Be Expanding Our Team!
MMSC is excited to be expanding our team and is currently taking resumes for the Executive Assistant of Network Services, Program Outreach Specialist, and Field Services Coordinator positions. With new initiatives and expansion of current services throughout Missouri, we are excited to announce these career opportunities to our MMSC network.

The Executive Assistant of Network Services is responsible for assisting the State Director of MMSC with management, administration, and implementation of the program. They will provide organizational support and a vigorous effort to maintain a consistent, quality program of services that will increase the potential success in all downtown revitalization activities.

The Program Outreach Specialist and Field Services Coordinator will work directly in field services with our Community Development Director and State Director. Candidates for the Program Outreach Specialist position should have past experience in helping to administer a state or local Main Street program. The Field Services Coordinator works collaboratively within the MMSC team and is responsible for coordinating services provided to Missouri communities.

Most importantly, for all three positions, we are looking for staff members that are team-builders and can create positive energy with the rest of the MMSC network! If you or someone you know would desire to work with Missouri communities, please follow the postings below.
2019 Missouri Main Street Awards
Missouri Main Street Connection Inc. (MMSC) presented downtown revitalization awards on July 25, 2019, recognizing revitalization excellence during the annual Missouri Main Street Conference in St. Louis. The event was hosted at The Westin St. Louis.

Missouri Main Street Connection is a non-profit designed to help communities preserve their historic commercial districts through economic revitalization. Based on economic data collected from the communities in the top three tiers of the Missouri Main Street program, since 2006, $771 million of private investments have been made in the Main Street communities. Public investments by municipal governments have totaled $169 million in improvements to infrastructure. Missouri Main Street programs have also successfully created 775 net new businesses and 3,873 net new jobs.

The award ceremony also honored communities, individuals, businesses, and organizations from across the state that have completed exemplary work in downtown revitalization. Competitive nominations were submitted for projects, activities, and individuals in 14 different categories that covered aspects of design, economic vitality, organization, promotion, and other efforts in downtown revitalization. See information on each award by following the link below.
