Preaching Text: John 9:1-41


A blind man sees! Just as in previous sections we've read in the Gospel of John, though, people focus on everything but the healing.  The Gospel writer of John gets even more explicit about signs as literal and metaphorical blindness come together in one story leaving us wondering where we may also be blind.  

Holy God, help us to see our blindness and grow in our faithfulness through Your Son, Jesus. In His name we pray, Amen.

What is Transfiguration Sunday?

• Open our eyes to your truth, and wash away all that obscures our vision.
• Reveal to us the restorative powers of your created world, all that exists to make us whole and fill us with abundant life.
• Heal the spiritual blindness of all those in power who fail to work for justice, or misuse their power for selfish ends. End corruption in governments worldwide, and redirect our leaders to an attitude of love and service.
• Bestow your healing hand upon all who need it, especially Steve & Diane Hitzemann.
• Like the saints who now walk in perpetual light, we seek a closer communion with you. Shine brightly through our lives as you did through theirs.

With confidence in your mercy, we lift these prayers and those of our hearts into your care, through Jesus Christ our light and our life. Amen.

Women's Retreat, Friday, March 6 from 6-9PM

An evening retreat with women from Holy Cross Lutheran and Geneva Lutheran, hosted by Faith Lutheran Church in Glen Ellyn. There will be time for fellowship, learning, and worship. Lenten Soup Suppers begin Wednesday, February 25! Click HERE to sign up to bring soup, sides, or deserts, or to serve. Soup Suppers will take place at 6PM each Wednesday of Lent, prior to the 7PM Holden Prayer services. Debbie Mickelsen for more information.
