Citi hires banking head from JPMorgan amid reshuffle at both lenders
Citigroup appointed Viswas Raghavan as its new head of banking from JPMorgan Chase, where there has been a management reshuffle and business reorganization. Raghavan will report to Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser and is expected to join in the summer. Raghavan most recently served as JPMorgan's head of global investment banking. JPMorgan named Doug Petno and Filippo Gori as co-heads of global banking, reorganizing the business as it announced Raghavan's departure.
Redburn Atlantic expands UK and European execution business with new heads of sales trading
Redburn Atlantic has moved to expand its UK and European execution business with two new heads of sales trading, The TRADE can reveal. Tony Atkins has been appointed UK head of sales trading. Atkins joined Redburn Atlantic in 2004. Alongside his appointment, Redburn Atlantic sales trader Luc Demoulin has been appointed EU head of sales trading. Demoulin joined Redburn Atlantic in 2021.
Citigroup’s hedge-fund sales boss Conor Davis to leave during overhaul
Conor Davis, one of the most senior sales executives at Citigroup’s trading unit, is leaving the Wall Street giant as CEO Jane Fraser pushes through a vast overhaul. Davis, who oversees sales and relationships with hedge funds and other key institutional clients of Citigroup’s global markets unit, will depart over the coming weeks. His exit is part of the lender’s efforts to simplify operations, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Hedge fund Citadel hired another equities portfolio manager from Point72
As Citadel builds its equities portfolio management (PM) team, it's hired a new PM from rival Point72. Daniel Beckmann, who spent six years at Point72 in Connecticut has just joined Citadel in New York as a portfolio manager in the global equities team. At Citadel, Beckmann will ultimately be reunited with his ex-Point72 colleagues Justin Lubell, Bobby Swift and Robert Banham.
Doug Braunstein to join Wells Fargo as vice chairman
Wells Fargo & Company announced that Doug Braunstein will join as Vice Chairman, effective February 28. He will report to CEO Charlie Scharf. Braunstein has more than 35 years of industry experience, including nearly two decades at JPMorgan Chase, where he held several executive management roles, including CFO and Vice Chairman. He was previously Head of JPMorgan’s Americas Investment Banking, Head of Global M&A, and Global Head of Industry Coverage.
Ex-Morgan Stanley trader joins billionaire clan’s family office
Brasil Warrant, which manages money for the Moreira Salles family, hired Thiago Melzer in New York, according to people familiar with the matter. The family has a fortune of more than $27B spread across four brothers. Melzer, who helped oversee foreign-exchange options at Morgan Stanley until 2021, was most recently with Upon Global Capital, a fund that he helped build and ultimately shut down last year.
