An Important Message from the Rabbis: Help Us Maintain Kedusha & Kavod in Our Beit Knesset

Dear Friends,

Shul is a place where all of us come for a variety of reasons, but first and foremost, it is a place of Tefillah, Torah and spiritual striving. As many of you know, during our sermons and talks in the Main Shul, from the Rabbis and Guest Speakers, we close the middle sanctuary doors, while the side doors remain open with door monitors allowing those who need to exit and enter - to do so quietly - in an effort to maintain proper decorum. And this is the type of decorum that we strive to maintain throughout Tefillah.

Our children are precious to us, and we are blessed to have wonderful youth programming during davening. When children are not in groups, we ask for your partnership in helping our children to understand that when they see that the partitions are up outside the main doors and women’s section, it means that there is no entry/exit for them at that time and they should remain with their youth groups, and not use the hallway as their play space. This is also a wonderful opportunity to teach our children about Kedushat Beit Knesset (the sanctity of our sacred space).

We want to express our deepest gratitude to our dedicated volunteers who help maintain decorum at the doors. Their service allows our entire congregation to fully engage in Tefillah and Torah learning.

Working together, we can ensure our Makom Tefillah remains a space where everyone can connect spiritually, grow in their Avodat Hashem and connect to Am Yisrael, Hashem and His Torah.

B’chavod U’B’Ahava,

Rabbi Jonathan Morgenstern

Rabbi Nuriel Klinger

An Important Message Regarding Safety & Wellbeing of Our YIS Community

Dear Friends,

With summer in full swing and many of our children playing outside of Shul on Shabbat morning, we wanted to bring to your attention an important issue related to the safety, security and wellbeing of our children and overall community.

As so many of us walk through the front parking lot, we ask that children not ride their scooters in the front parking lot area after initially “parking” them underneath the side awning. Children are permitted to safely ride their scooters on the side of the building and in the back parking lot.

In addition, children should not venture behind the Shul building on the side near Weaver Street, as this is not an area that is safe for them to play.

Finally, it is so vital that we keep our Shul campus, our communal Makom Kadosh, clean. Accordingly, everyone (adults and children) should be reminded to throw away any trash and wrappers in the closest garbage bin.

We should treat our spiritual home as we would treat our own physical homes. We are all in this together and only with your partnership can we achieve what we aspire to - for us all - our extended YIS family. In this spirit, we ask that you please partner with us in implementing these important safety measures and inform your children of these vital protocols.

Be a Part of Our Legacy & Join Our Exciting YIS Expansion w/ the 100+ Families Who Have Already Generously Pledged - Help Us Build the Future of Am Yisrael!

Dear Friends,

Rabbi Morgenstern shared with us a compelling case for how and why our YIS Capital Campaign is so important, not just for the future of our community - for our children and grandchildren - but also for the future of an engaged, vibrant and connected Am Yisrael in this country.

And now, as the summer rolls on, we are already focusing on creating a beautiful and meaningful High Holiday experience for all, as well as planning another exciting and inspiring programmatic calendar that will continue to impact and elevate our community.

UPDATED INFO: THE NEW WINDOW DEDICATIONS

In this spirit, as we build a new Beit Midrash, which will be another Makom Tefillah, complementing our beautiful sanctuary, we have the privilege and holy opportunity to dedicate another set of 12 aesthetically inspiring Windows that will adorn the new YIS Beit Midrash.

These windows(a $100,000 pledge) will be representative of the major holidays on the Jewish calendar, in 8 unique windows:

• Rosh Hashanah/Yom Kippur (Reserved)

• Sukkot/Simchat Torah (Reserved)

• Chanukah (Reserved)

• Purim (Reserved)

• Pesach (Reserved)

• Yom Haatzmaut/Yom Yerushalayim (Reserved)

Shavuot (Reserved)

NEW WINDOW TITLE: Galut U'Geulah - Exile & Redemption

The windows will also feature artistic illustrations of the 4 Holy Cities of Eretz Yisrael:

• Yerushalayim (Reserved)

Chevron

• T'veryah (Reserved)

• Tzfat

Please help us fulfill our ambitious goal of $15,000,000+. So far, thanks to the incredible generosity of 100+ families in our community, we have already eclipsed $14,000,000 in this exciting capital raise. However, this incredible achievement reflects just 35% of our congregation, and we humbly call upon all of you to participate in this once-in-a-generation project in a way that is meaningful to you and to your family.

Your pledge (which can be paid out over 3 - 5 years) will secure the Jewish future for years to come in our expanded facility that will serve the needs of the thousands that will continue to hear our unique message, be inspired by our Shul's dynamic energy and live our Jewish lives in a way that perpetuates a love of Torah, Am Yisrael, and Medinat Yisrael.

Thank you, in advance, for your commitment to partner with us in

“Building the Future of Am Yisrael, One Brick at a Time”.

Help Us Welcome and Host Our Newest B’not Sherut!

Dear Friends,

We are so excited to welcome two new B'not Sherut to YIS, Avia and Achinoam, who will be working in our shul community and at WDS. We are currently looking for a family to open their hearts & their home to host them. We want to split the year between two families - from the end of August through January, and from February through June.

Here’s a little about our B’not Sherut:

Avia Giat

I’m Avia from Netanya and I’m the third out of four siblings.

This year I did my Shirut Leumi in a village in the beautiful Golan Heights with children and families at risk, and it truly was a meaningful year.

A fun fact about me is that during Covid, I had a small business selling Jachnun (Yemeni dish) :).

I really love spending time with my family and my friends and I’m so excited to come to the community and meet you all!

Achinoam Cohen

Hi! I’m Achinoam and I’m the second of five siblings. I live in Beit Horon, a small village near Jerusalem. This past year I worked as a tour guide in the beautiful north of Israel. I really enjoy hiking with different people from all over the country, getting to know the land, and connecting to it through our feet. I really love music and sports, and I enjoy spending time with my family and my friends. I’m really looking forward to coming and meeting you all next year!

Avia and Achinoam are excited to embark on this journey together.

Especially during these challenging times for Israel, hosting Avia and Achinoam is a fantastic opportunity to bring a piece of Israel and its spirit into your home, fostering a deeper connection to Israel, its language & culture. This generous act not only enriches your own family experience but also provides tremendous support to our community.

If you or someone you know can host these wonderful young women, your hospitality will have a significant positive impact on their experience and on our community. If you have any questions regarding this unique opportunity to fulfill the mitzvah of Hachnasat Orchim, please contact Dovrat (dovratostroff@gmail.com).
