Dear Friends of AHP,
We are happy to announce good news regarding our 2023 Journal of Natural Products paper:
Botanical Ingredient Forensics: Detection of Attempts to Deceive Commonly Used Analytical Methods for Authenticating Herbal Dietary and Food Ingredients and Supplements
Stefan Gafner; Mark Blumenthal; Steven Foster; John H. Cardellina, II; Ikhlas A. Khan; Roy Upton; J. Nat. Prod. (2023) 86 (2): 460–472.
This paper, written under the auspices of the Botanical Adulterations Prevention Program (BAPP) and authored by the principal BAPP partners, was one of the top-cited publications that contributed to the 2025 Journal Impact Factor™ for Journal of Natural Products. This underscores the importance of the BAPP work to the larger world of herbal product quality control and safety. This work would not be possible without the financial support of BAPP underwriters and the many researchers who contribute their expertise to the greater good.
Sincere thanks from the entire BAPP team, especially to ABC Scientific Director Dr. Stefan Gafner for marshaling through all of the BAPP work with a level of expertise that seems effortless.
If you have not read the paper, it is worthy of downloading and distributing to the quality control teams of industry and academia. The complete paper (open access) can be found at https://pubs.acs.org/jnprdf/article/86/2/460/314610/Botanical-Ingredient-Forensics-Detection-of
