New Navigation Measures Now Live

We are excited to announce the launch of new Navigation Measures within the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers platform (NQMBC).

Over the past several months, NCBC convened experienced breast health navigators to carefully review our existing measures. Through this collaborative process:

  • Current measures were evaluated
  • More practice-aligned measures were identified
  • New, updated Navigation Measures were developed

These updates reflect real-world navigation practice and our continued commitment to meaningful, measurable quality improvement.

What to Expect

  • BOTH THE CURRENT AND NEW MEASURES ARE NOW VISIBLE on the NQMBC website platform
  • The existing measures are scheduled for retirement in late 2027. We will utilize only the new measures after that date.
  • All data and values from retiring measures will remain available for historical use.
  • You can see the updated new measures listed here: New Navigation Quality Measures
  • We encourage you to review and utilize the new measures in your program.

WE WANT YOUR FEEDBACK! Please review these measures and send us any feedback you might have to aerial@breastcare.org. We continue to be your gateway to high-quality care.

We are excited for you to explore the new measures and see how they strengthen the value of navigation within breast centers nationwide.

Not Participating in NQMBC? Now Is the Time.

The NQMBC is the only breast care-specific quality management program of its type, offering performance monitoring of service delivery, professional performance and clinical outcomes across the patient's journey from screening through diagnostics, surgery and adjuvant therapies.

NQMBC is working with industry to automate the data collection process to reduce the time and resources necessary to develop a quality management program. Through participation in NQMBC, data reporting requirements of accrediting agencies and payors can be met.

If your breast center is not currently participating in NQMBC, we strongly encourage you to consider joining.

Participation in NQMBC is intentionally accessible — just $600 per year for a full interdisciplinary quality benchmarking program.

For comparison, other national breast center quality programs, such as the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), often exceed $5,000 per year in program participation costs.

NQMBC provides a cost-effective, meaningful way to:

  • Benchmark performance against national standards
  • Demonstrate measurable quality to leadership and stakeholders
  • Identify actionable improvement opportunities with real-time data
  • Elevate and validate the impact of navigation

In today’s environment of accountability and value-based care, measuring and benchmarking quality is essential.

Breast centers participating in NQMBC are not just collecting data — they are leading the standard of care.
