Holy Eucharist Service

All Saints Day Celebration

celebrated by The Reverend Robert Gieselmann

Pledge Sunday

Twenty-Fourth Sunday after Pentecost

Sunday, November 3 - 9:30 am

A prayer

May we discover through pain and torment,

the strength to live with grace and humor.

May we discover through doubt and anguish,

the strength to live with dignity and holiness.

May we discover through suffering and fear,

the strength to move toward healing.

May it come to pass that we be restored to health and to vigor.

May Life grant us wellness of body, spirit, and mind.

And if this cannot be so, may we find in this transformation and passage

moments of meaning, opportunities for love

and the deep and gracious calm that comes

when we allow ourselves to move on.

—Rabbi Rami M. Shapiro, at HeartSteps.org

Free admission to the film RATIFY at the Liberty Theater in Hailey. Ratify will tell the story of Virginia's challenging but ultimately successful fight to be the 38th and final state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. The struggle to get the Amendment incorporated into the U.S. Constitution has been going on for 100 years, yet protection on the basis of gender is still elusive. Why isn't it in the Constitution? Come to one or both screenings on Saturday, November 2 at 7pm and Sunday, November 3 at 4pm. No ticket required, free admission.

Saint Simon and Saint Jude

John 15:17 I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another.

I once had the pleasure of spending a week in Costa Rica. I couldn’t help but be drawn to the simplicity of life and romanticized about retiring there and living a simple life near the beach. “Life can be simple,” I thought to myself. “It’s meant to be simple.”

Confucius once said that life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. I think that applies to our faith journey. Following Jesus is simple: love one another. Simple and straightforward. The problem comes when we respond with, “But...” “But what do you really mean, Jesus, by ‘one another’?” “But who’s my neighbor?” “But what about...?” We insist on making following Jesus complicated because of our desire to qualify who Jesus meant by “one another.” How much simpler our faith journey would be if we followed Jesus’s simple commands. Following Jesus is simple, but it’s not easy. The things that truly transform lives never come easily. May we continue to follow Jesus by loving one another the way he loves us.

Support those impacted by recent hurricanes.

Donations to Episcopal Relief & Development’s Hurricane Relief Fund help our partners and dioceses reach communities devastated by hurricanes and other catastrophic storms. As we continue to assess ongoing needs in impacted areas, your urgent gift will enable us to respond now — and in the long run to aid in recovery.

Episcopal Relief & Development is also working together with the ACT Alliance and the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe (CECE) to serve refugees impacted by the war in Ukraine, providing support both within Ukraine and throughout Europe.

Please pray for all those affected.
