Arrival: Greenwood, IN

MISSION REPORT 804

Andy and Connie were in Tennessee celebrating their 39th wedding anniversary and visiting family when Andy had a stroke. He has been in the hospital for a few weeks now and can finally be transferred.

Their son Zach reached out to me in regard to his transport. We had a few conversations as I answered his questions and he gathered information for his mom. Zach’s wife works here at our local hospital (actually just 1 mile from the Greenwood airport and across the street from our office). She is a physical therapist and the goal is to get him here for rehab.

Kreistyn, the case manager in Tennessee, was very helpful and we worked together quickly on Monday to get everything in place for a Wednesday flight.

We arrived in Tennessee and waited for the ambulance to arrive. Once it did Melissa and I hopped on to do a quick assessment. Andy is tall with a head full of hair, mustache and eager to get back home.

We placed him inside the aircraft after Hal prayed over him. Connie is driving back. Andy slept during his short flight home and seemed to do well.

He and Connie met many years ago when they were both teachers and taught down the hall from one another. He taught pre-cal and calculus and she taught business, accounting and computer classes. She also coached tennis, volleyball and basketball. Connie said that she would bring her 2 young sons in with her in the afternoon and Andy would come to her class and talk to them. Before long the two began dating and eventually married. They added 2 more sons to their family.

Kyle is the oldest, Zach, Nate and Jordan the youngest. They range in age from 46-33 years old. Connie said at one time they had a senior in high school and a kindergartener at the same time. They are a busy family and have been blessed with 7 grandchildren that they are crazy about and enjoy family time every chance they get.

Our flight was just an hour long and we landed back in Greenwood. The ambulance was there ready to take Andy around the corner where his family was waiting to welcome him back home.

Please pray for a complete recovery for Andy.
