This iteration of the LAA Connection will share timely grant opportunities that can help your municipality expand services, enhance existing programs, and make a lasting impact in the community. In addition to those funding opportunities, there are three upcoming conferences detailed below that are taking place in September and October. These events are perfect opportunities to network with other elected and appointed officials, learn from sector experts, and explore new ideas that can fuel your community's success.

Stay tuned for all the details below and be sure to mark your calendars!

WFRC Ordinance Assistance Program

The WFRC Ordinance Assistance program can help municipalities identify areas of their code that may be in need of revision. Wasatch Front Regional Council staff work with local staff, appointed officials, and/or elected officials to understand the community’s ordinance needs and conduct a review at no-cost to local communities. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. If you need assistance completing an application for consideration, please reach out to me.

Utah Children's Outdoor Recreation and Education Grant (UCORE) - Opens September 4

The Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation's UCORE program is designed to provide high-quality, outdoor-focused learning experiences to youth throughout the state. This funding opportunity could help your Parks & Recreation Department and/or Board increase access and enhance the overall outdoor recreation experience managed by your city or town. Learn more here.

Board of Water Resources - Application Deadline September 27

The Utah Board of Water Resources appropriates funds to improve safety and water efficiency, develop new water projects, and refurbish aging infrastructure. More information is available on this funding opportunity through the Utah DNR website. You may view more water and wastewater funding opportunities through the Governor's Office of Planning and Budget here.

WFRC Transportation and Land Use Connection (TLC) Program - Letter of Intent Due September 26

The TLC program provides technical assistance to local communities to help implement changes that reduce traffic on roads and enable more people to easily walk, bike, and use transit. General Plan updates, city/town code updates, small area plans, and active transportation plans are all examples of previously funded TLC projects within the WFRC region. A Google Form (a simple, one-page form) found here is now available for municipalities to submit letters of intent.

Hosted by UDOT, Move Utah, Bike Utah, and Get Healthy Utah, the Summit promotes multi-sector collaboration that produces actionable solutions to real-world challenges related to health, transportation and land use in Utah. Register here for the event taking place in Provo, Utah in September.

APA Utah Fall Conference - October 10-11

I'm also excited to announce that the new WFRC LAA webpage is now live on the WFRC website! Past editions of the LAA Connection newsletter and additional resources are now available to view or share.
