Enjoy Fall Color, Rain Coming

What a beautiful October it has been! We hope you’ve had a chance to get outdoors and enjoy the warm, dry weather. Fall rains appear to be on their way, with the forecast below calling for cooler temperatures and wet weather beginning later this week. Our crews are preparing for the change as we continue caring for your landscapes throughout the rainy season.

As lawn growth slows, our focus will gradually shift from mowing to leaf cleanup. Some lawns may still need a few final mowings, and we’ll watch the forecast and monitor soil conditions to find suitable opportunities.

During particularly wet stretches, we may postpone mowing to avoid the turf damage shown in the photos below. We appreciate your patience if lawns look a little shaggy between visits. Our crews will prioritize leaf removal and take advantage of drier weather to complete the final mowings of the year.

As leaf removal gets underway, you’ll see our fleet of leaf vacuums towed behind our trucks. Where conditions allow, our crews blow leaves into collection areas in parking lots or along curbs, then vacuum them up for efficient removal.

Each fall, our crews collect more than 100,000 cubic yards of leaves—enough to fill over 5,000 of our trucks! All those leaves are recycled and composted into garden mulch for reuse.

Some customers have asked whether we handle the composting ourselves. We partner with local composting businesses that have the equipment, space, and expertise to process this volume efficiently. It’s the most cost-effective way to turn fallen leaves into a valuable resource for gardens and landscapes.
