Please Comment: 2 Weekly Newsletters?

We currently send two newsletters each week, the e-Communitarian, with information for the whole CUUC community, and the RE News, with information for RE families and leaders. Are you reading both newsletters? Should we streamline information? Please share your thoughts on this very short survey.

CUUC Apparel Shop

The CUUC Apparel Shop is open! A big shout out to Kim Force for designing the shirts and setting up the store!! View apparel, sizes, colors, and prices in our online shop.

We will be doing a big order in October shipped to CUUC so that we can offer free shipping. To participate, go here and place your order before November 1st. If you can't wait for our order or miss the October order, you can order directly from the online shop.

Faith development and religious exploration continue over our lifetimes. We offer adults the opportunity to continue learning, growing, sharing and deepenig in supportive community.

We need a few more RSVPs to run this adult RE class.

Adult Class: Creating Theology Together

October 24, 9:00am-2:00pm at CUUC

Lunch included. Childcare available if requested by October 18

By understanding our personal theology and then moving beyond a focus on the individual search for truth and meaning, we create space for a shared theology to emerge as we continue growing together in faith. We will begin by defining theology, and exploring our personal relationship with theology and how it has evolved along our journey. Where do we come from? What do we carry? How does that impact, inform, challenge us? We will then explore how to honor our individual experiences as we journey together in covenanted community, consider our congregational theological identity, and examine what it means to practice pluralism as a value. What does it look like to allow a shared theology to emerge? How do we make space for what others bring? RSVP HERE

Courage Theme Resources for Families

We are using Soul Matters Sharing Circle materials in Religious Exploration classes, Journey Groups, and worship. Each month we share resources with you so you can explore the theme at home. There are stories, movie suggestions, activities, conversation prompts, and more. Click here for the materials or pick up a copy on the RE Welcome table.

Sunday, October 11

Childcare

Sundays, 9:30-11:30am

Diane Keller, Hans Elsevier, and Salma Nasser welcome children every Sunday. We offer a safe, loving environment where our youngest build community and play outside when weather permits. After worship, please pick up your child(ren) from RE before attending coffee hour.

Families who remain in worship are invited to make use of the family area. Please sit near your children and help tidy up after service.

Worship

"AI: When Our Creations Surprise Us" ~ Rev. Mark Cutolo

10:00am in the Sanctuary and On Zoom

Through ritual, story, and music in worship, we explore together themes that inform our faith, challenge us to go deeper, and call us to action with love at the center. We hope you find care, support, love, and community here. Each service is a little different. The one thing that never changes: it is good to be together.

To join the Sunday Worship livestream: bit.ly/CUUC-Worship or phone in (audio only): 646-876-9923. Webinar: 761 321 991, Passcode: 468468.

Online worshipers may post your Joys and Sorrows at any time by visiting bit.ly/CUUC-Online-Joys-and-Sorrows. The site is available all week, 24/7.

K-9th Grade Religious Exploration

7th-9th grades go directly to their classroom.

All others begin in the sanctuary at 10:00am.

The 7th-9th grade COA class goes directly to their classroom at 10:00am. Amy Nathan is leading class with Gail Johnston. The conversation will focus on how Unitarian Universalism gives us values to live with and a place to come home to, and the youth will explore what about Unitarian Universalism has been important to them.

All others begin in the sanctuary, then leave after the Chalice Conversation. Cynthia Roberts and Matthew Darnall will lead a PlaceKeeping activity with our young people. Please wear clothing for the weather and study shoes for the trails. If it's raining, they will have an indoor activity.

After the activity, children will be brought to
coffee hour to reunite with their adult(s).

Labyrinth Presentation

Sun Oct 11, 11:30am - 1:00pm, Fellowship Hall

Labyrinths are both places and experiences. Come join Rev. Dr. Kelly Murphy Mason and Eileen Macholl for an orientation and discussion to learn more about the history of labyrinths worldwide and discover the labyrinth as a tool for contemplation and embodied experience. We will debut a new canvas labyrinth created especially for CUUC by our own in-house artist, April Castoldi; this will supplement the outdoor labyrinth that was installed on our grounds this summer by our own PlaceKeeper Tim King. Following the presentation, Rev. Kelly and Eileen will lead walks both indoors and outdoors, weather permitting. Wind your way in and back out again — explore the mysteries of this space and symbol and use it to seek some answers of your own. We invite people to bring apple-sized stones from their homes or gardens to help strengthen our community outdoor labyrinth as it gets more fully established. We will be sharing books and other resources related to labyrinths, including some finger labyrinths for tracing.

Coming Up

All Ages Game Night

Sat Oct 17, 5:30 pm, Fellowship Hall

We invite newcomers, families, and friends to join us for an evening of old-fashioned, in-person fun together! Remember, we no longer ask you to donate for pizza, BUT if you’d like a slice, be sure to register at bit.ly/2026-27_CommunityGameNight_SignUp and let us know what type of pizza you like and how many of you are coming (so we'll know what to order). Note: If you are bringing young children, please also bring a game or activity they enjoy (in case we don’t have something on hand right for their age). Contact: Audra Russell.
