Greetings!
Welcome to the August 2026 Collector Car Journal featuring highlights from recent automotive activities and a look ahead at notable events and milestones across the collector car world.
| | |
August is always one of the busiest months on the automotive calendar, but this year Monterey Car Week was particularly memorable as the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance celebrated its 75th anniversary.
Across ten remarkable days, the Monterey Peninsula once again became the center of the collector car world, bringing together extraordinary automobiles, historic racing, major auctions, manufacturers, collectors and enthusiasts from around the globe. Yet even among the seemingly endless number of events, there were several moments that stood out - some because of the cars themselves, others because of the people and, unusually for Pebble Beach, a few because of the sounds!
Having been fortunate to spend much of the week involved with activities surrounding the Concours, this month's Journal is inevitably Pebble Beach-focused. But there was plenty happening elsewhere as well, including developments with Rétromobile New York, the International Historic Motoring Awards, Goodwood Revival and several events worth adding to the calendar.
As always, I hope you enjoy this month's collection of observations, history and stories from around our automotive world.

PEBBLE BEACH AT 75
This year's 75th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance presented an exceptional show field, once again bringing together some of the world's greatest classic automobiles from around the globe while also welcoming back a number of memorable cars from the Concours' past, including cars from the original Pebble Beach Road Races that was the original event that first started the Concours.
Generally referred to simply as "Car Week," the ten days of automotive activity across the Monterey Peninsula included dozens of publicly accessible events, along with countless invitation-only and private gatherings, all culminating on Sunday with the Pebble Beach Concours.
A total of 218 cars—including 33 international entries from 14 countries and 185 U.S. entries representing 30 states - graced Pebble Beach’s 17th and 18th Fairways, the venue for the 2027 US Open Championship, with just one car ultimately selected as Best of Show.
| | |
A Duesenberg Takes the Crown
This year's 'Best of Show' honors went to the magnificent 1935 Duesenberg SSJ Special Speedster, originally owned by Hollywood legend Clark Gable and now part of the collection of Harry Yeaggy of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Interestingly, it was one of two "Gable Duesenbergs" with a presence during Monterey Car Week. The other, a 1935 Duesenberg Model JN Bohman & Schwartz Convertible Coupe, was offered at auction as part of the renowned Sam and Emily Mann Collection and sold for just over $9 Million, making it the third-highest price ever paid for a Duesenberg. Prior to joining their collection, the car had been displayed at the Blackhawk Museum for more than 25 years.

| | |
Only two Duesenberg SSJ Special Speedsters were built, and both were featured on Pebble Beach's 18th Fairway this year.
The second was originally owned by another of Hollywood's 'Golden Era' leading men, Gary Cooper, and today resides in the exceptional collection of John Mozart. John is himself a two-time Pebble Beach Best of Show winner - first in 1988 with his 1937 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900A Touring Spider and again in 1998 with his 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC Corsica Roadster.
The Clark Gable SSJ also has a wonderful connection to an earlier generation of the collector car hobby. For 45 years it was owned by noted Cleveland collector of Duesenbergs and Pierce Arrows, Alfred "Al" Ferrara, a longtime supporter of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club, Classic Car Club of America and Antique Automobile Club of America. Diminutive is stature but 'big' in personality, Al was one of those wonderful personalities from an earlier era of car collecting - extremely approachable and always happy to share stories about the days when many of today's great Classics could still be purchased for little more than used-car prices. The people buying them then weren't thinking about investment values or auction records; they bought the cars simply because they loved them.
That makes it particularly enjoyable to see a car with such a long and interesting history now earn the highest honor at Pebble Beach, with the Duesenberg marque retaining its status as the Pebble Beach Concours’ winningest American marque, now having earned a total of eight Best of Show trophies.
For Harry Yeaggy, this was his second Best of Show victory. His first came in 2007 with the historic 1935 Duesenberg SJ Special, the famous "Mormon Meteor," made legendary by speed-record driver Ab Jenkins. More recently, in 2024, Harry was a Best of Show nominee with his 1934 Packard 1108 Twelve LeBaron Sport Phaeton.

A SPECTACULAR SHOW FIELD
The 75th anniversary celebration extended well beyond the judged Concours field. This year saw the welcome return of Concorso Ferrari to Pebble Beach's First Fairway, where some 70 exceptional automobiles highlighted Ferrari's extraordinary competition and road-car legacy in America.
| | Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta | | | | |
For the first time on the Third Fairway, Automobili Lamborghini created another spectacular sight with a gathering of 42 Lamborghini Miuras (not including the two entered in the Concours) celebrating the model's 60th anniversary.
Widely regarded as the world's first modern supercar, the Miura remains as visually dramatic today as when it was unveiled six decades ago. Seeing more than forty examples gathered together, the largest ever gathering of Muiras, made for one of the memorable displays of the weekend.
| | Back on the 17th and 18th Fairways, the 218 Concours entries represented an extraordinary cross-section of automotive history - from great prewar Classics and coachbuilt automobiles to significant competition cars and landmark postwar designs. | | Congratulations are due not only to the Class and Special Award winners, but also to the restorers, detailers, engine builders, collection managers and countless others responsible for preparing the automobiles that appeared on the show field. The finished cars may receive the trophies, but anyone familiar with the concours world knows how many talented and dedicated people stand behind every automobile presented at this level. | | |
THE SOUNDS OF PEBBLE BEACH
The sound of race cars isn't normally the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about the manicured lawn of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Yet over the years there have been a few unforgettable exceptions.
My first recollection of a truly standout "sound" moment came in 1999 when the legendary 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196 Grand Prix car, made famous by five-time World Drivers' Champion Juan Manuel Fangio, drove across the awards ramp. Its piercing desmodromic induced high-frequency mechanical note reverberating across the normally genteel Pebble Beach lawn remains a vivid memory more than a quarter-century later.
This year provided two very different additions to that list.
| | |
The Sunbeam 1000HP Roars Again
The team from Britain's National Motor Museum at Beaulieu brought one of the most extraordinary machines ever built for speed—the 1927 Sunbeam 1000HP land speed record car. Nearly a century ago, Sir Henry Segrave drove the Sunbeam on Daytona Beach to become the first person to exceed 200 mph on land.
Following a multi-year restoration project, Pebble Beach provided the setting for another historic moment when the Sunbeam's enormous twin 22.4-litre aero engines were fired into life for its US debut. The crowd gathered around the four-ton machine was treated to a sound not heard from the Sunbeam for generations. Making the occasion even more appropriate was the presence of Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, continuing a family association with both automotive history and Pebble Beach that stretches back decades.
| | |
Beaulieu and Pebble Beach share a longstanding connection. The Montagu of Beaulieu Trophy, donated in 1982 by the late Edward, the third Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, is presented annually to the most significant automobile of British origin at the Concours. This year's recipient was the 1934 Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Freestone & Webb Drophead Coupé shown by Bill and Adriana Hayward and the Hayward Family.
The Rolls-Royce also has a particularly meaningful local connection. Carmel resident Bill Hayward, a board member of Rancho Cielo, purchased the car with students from the organization's Classic Car Restoration program very much in mind.
Established in 2000 by then-Monterey County Superior Court Judge John Phillips, Rancho Cielo is a nonprofit organization providing education, vocational training and support for underserved and disconnected youth throughout Monterey County. Its Classic Car Restoration Program has developed in partnership with the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, providing students with hands-on training in the specialized skills required to repair, preserve and restore collector automobiles - skills increasingly needed throughout the industry.
The program has an especially meaningful connection to the late Don Williams, a legendary figure in the collector car world who exhibited more automobiles over 50 years at Pebble Beach than anyone else. Donations made in his memory help provide funding for the program, with the Jackson Family Foundation, led by Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson, joining Pebble Beach Concours Chairman Sandra Button in supporting its development. The objective is not only to honor Don's legacy, but to help create a new generation of skilled craftspeople capable of preserving the automobiles we celebrate today.
| | |
This year, recent Rancho Cielo graduates participated in the detailing and preparation of the Hayward family's Rolls-Royce, rode in the Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance and helped present the car to the official Concours judges.
The program now has an ambitious goal: within three years, students hope to undertake the complete restoration of a car and ultimately present it themselves at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
That would be quite an accomplishment—and an especially appropriate way to demonstrate that preserving automotive history is as much about developing the next generation of craftspeople as it is about preserving the cars themselves.
| | |
Following the Pebble Beach Concours, the Sunbeam land speed record car travelled to Jay Leno's Big Dog Garage for a taping of Jay Leno's Garage. It then went to go on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum and will be on display through the end of 2026, before its long-awaited return to Daytona Beach, FL, next year. The Sunbeam will first be on display at the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America at Daytona International Speedway before the Centenary Anniversary celebration of Sir Henry Segrave's historic record with a demonstration run on March 29, 2027, along the famed stretch of beach - home of 11 world speed records.
| | At approximately four tons and with steering characteristics perhaps more appropriate to an ocean liner, the Sunbeam understandably did not make a trip across the Pebble Beach awards ramp. Another crowd favorite most certainly did. | | |
The Unmistakable Sound of the Mazda 787B
In 1991, Mazda became the first Japanese manufacturer to claim outright victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the now legendary Mazda 787B Group C prototype. Its four-rotor engine produced more than 700 horsepower and, at close to 9,000 rpm, created a high-pitched wail unlike virtually anything else in motorsport, and famous among racing fans.
In the 35 years since that historic Le Mans victory, the 787B has achieved almost cult-like status among racing enthusiasts. As it fired into life and made its way across the Pebble Beach ramp, the appreciate reaction from the crowd was immediate.
For an event more traditionally associated with elegance than the roar of an engine , it was one of those wonderful moments when the sound of an extraordinary racing car told its own story.
| | |
JAPANESE MOTORSPORT TAKES CENTER STAGE
The Japanese Motorsport class at this year's Pebble Beach Concours was a first for the event, bringing together an exceptional selection of cars representing Japan's increasingly important place in international sportscar competition history.
The celebration was also included at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, where Icons of Japanese Motorsport brought together significant race cars and grand prix motorcycles spanning several generations.
| | |
Among my personal favorites were two machines that could certainly have joined the "Sounds of Pebble Beach" collection.
"Red 5," Nigel Mansell's 1986 Williams-Honda Formula One car, represented one of the most memorable periods of the turbo era and the car that brought Honda its first constructor’s title. While the extraordinary 1967 Honda RC174 Grand Prix motorcycle demonstrated just how technically ambitious Honda had become. Powered by a jewel-like 297cc six-cylinder engine capable of revving to approximately 17,000 rpm, the RC174 was ridden by the legendary Mike "The Bike" Hailwood to seven victories from eight races on his way to retaining the 350cc World Championship.
Two completely different machines - but both capable of shattering almost any sound meter!

PETER BROCK — A REMARKABLE AMERICAN DESIGN LEGACY
Serving as Grand Marshal for this year's Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion was legendary American designer Peter Brock, who I am very privileged to call a good friend.
Peter's remarkable career has touched an extraordinary number of important chapters in American automotive history. He became the youngest designer at General Motors in 1957, where his early work contributed to what would ultimately become the iconic 1963 'split-window' Corvette Sting Ray.
He later joined Carroll Shelby's operation, where he designed the revolutionary Cobra Daytona Coupe. Initially controversial because of its unconventional aerodynamic shape, the Daytona Coupe proved its worth on the racetrack, helping Shelby American capture the 1965 FIA International Championship for GT Manufacturers - the first world championship for an American manufacturer.
Peter would later establish Brock Racing Enterprises (BRE) and play an equally important role in putting Datsun - and ultimately Nissan - on the American motorsports map. BRE's championship-winning Datsun 510s and 240Zs became giant killers during the early 1970s and helped establish the credibility of Japanese performance cars with American racing enthusiasts.
Few automotive designers can claim such an extraordinary range of influence—from Corvette and Cobra to Datsun and the growth of Japanese motorsport in America. And that brings us back to one of Peter's most celebrated creations.

$43.5 MILLION
Only six original Cobra Daytona Coupes were built to compete for the international championship. One of those six came to auction during Monterey Car Week this year at the Gooding Christie's Pebble Beach sale.
With a published estimate of "In Excess of $25,000,000," auctioneer Charlie Ross orchestrated spirited bidding that ultimately resulted in a remarkable $43.5 million sale, establishing a new public-auction record for an American automobile. The figure is extraordinary, but perhaps more important is what it says about the historical significance now attached to the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe.
This was not simply another Shelby competition car. The Peter Brock designed Cobra Daytona Coupe, initially controversial in its design, was instrumental in accomplishing something Carroll Shelby had set out to do - beat Ferrari on the international stage - and its contribution to Shelby American's 1965 FIA GT Manufacturers' Championship secured its place in American motorsport history.
| | |
Last month I highlighted Pebble Beach's historic 1985 gathering of all six original Bugatti Type 41 Royales - "The Summit" - when all six were assembled together. Perhaps another "Summit of Six" awaits Pebble Beach someday. Seeing all six original Cobra Daytona Coupes reunited on the 18th Fairway, with Peter Brock alongside them, could certainly make for another memorable chapter in Concours history.
For anyone unable to attend this year's Pebble Beach Concours, the complete event broadcast is also available online.

MONTEREY BY THE NUMBERS
For the most part, I tend to focus this Journal on automobiles, people and events rather than auction results and collector car values. There are plenty of publications and websites that cover that side of the hobby in considerable detail. Every now and then, however, the numbers themselves become part of the story. This year's Monterey auctions were one of those occasions.
Across five auction companies conducting 11 sales over three days, total sales reached a remarkable $755.6 million. Of the 1,124 lots offered, 853 sold, representing a 76 percent sell-through rate and an average transaction approaching $886,000. The overall total exceeded the previous Monterey/Pebble Beach record, established in 2022, by approximately $284 million.*
There will undoubtedly be countless articles analyzing what sold, what didn't, which segments are rising or changing with generational preferences and what it all means for the collector car market. I'll leave that analysis to others.
For me, the larger takeaway is simpler: the extraordinary level of activity once again demonstrates just how the significance of the Pebble Beach and Monterey Car Week continues to grow - not merely to the collector car market, but as an annual gathering place for automotive enthusiasts from around the world.

From Monterey to Manhattan
Monterey Car Week also provided an excellent opportunity for the Rétromobile New York team to spend time with many of the companies, collectors and enthusiasts who will be joining us in Manhattan this November.
Throughout the week, the team participated in activities across the Monterey Peninsula—from the launch of the Pebble Beach Tour d'Elegance. the Pebble Beach Classic Car Forums with Jay Leno returning to Pebble Beach, a Retro NY display in Concours Village featuring an attention-getting Cobra 289 - courtesy of the Singleton Collection - along with attending The Quail and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
One of the most encouraging aspects of the week was seeing so many companies already committed to exhibiting at the inaugural Rétromobile New York—and hearing from the many enthusiasts planning to attend.
The exhibitor roster has continued to grow substantially over recent weeks, with additional participants and special features still to be announced as we move closer to opening day.
For more than half a century, Rétromobile Paris has brought together the many different elements of the collector car world under one roof. Our objective in New York is to create that same sense of discovery: important automobiles alongside dealers, manufacturers, restorers, artists, craftsmen, auction houses, automobilia, motorsport history and the people who make this hobby so enjoyable.
The inaugural Rétromobile New York takes place November 19–22 at the Javits Center in Manhattan. Event information, tickets, hotel accommodations and travel offers are available through the Rétromobile New York website - www.retromobile.us
| | |
MAKE A WEEK OF NEW YORK
For those travelling to New York for Rétromobile, November also provides an unusually good opportunity to combine the event with several other major cultural happenings around Manhattan.
The city's fall art calendar includes The Salon Art + Design, the ADAA Fair, Art Week NYC, and major Post-War and Contemporary Art sales at Sotheby's and Christie's in the days leading into Rétromobile all on the calendar between November 9 and 18. Then, just four days after Rétromobile closes, New York celebrates another milestone with the 100th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on November 26.
For anyone considering an extended visit, it makes for a particularly interesting November in Manhattan—art, automobiles, auctions, restaurants, theatres, museums and one of America's great holiday traditions.

INTERNATIONAL HISTORIC MOTORING AWARDS
Nominations are now open for this year's International Historic Motoring Awards, which celebrate excellence throughout the international classic and collector car community. Launched in 2011, the Awards recognize the people, businesses, organizations and events whose passion and dedication continue to preserve, promote and strengthen the historic motoring world.
What I particularly like about the Awards is that nominations are open to everyone. Individuals and organizations can put forward their own work or nominate someone else whose accomplishments deserve greater recognition.
New for 2026 is the Youth Initiative of the Year, recognizing individuals and organizations that are helping secure the future of our hobby by inspiring, educating and creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation. This is an especially worthwhile addition. We spend considerable time talking about how to introduce younger people to collector cars, but there are many clubs, museums, events and individuals already doing excellent work in this area that deserves recognition.
If you know of such a program—or an individual, organization or event deserving consideration in any of the award categories—I encourage you to submit a nomination. Entries close Friday, September 18, 2026, and nominations are free.

LOOKING AHEAD TO GOODWOOD
Over the past three decades I have been fortunate to attend both the Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival on numerous occasions.
I first visited Goodwood in 1994, and watching what has developed there since has been quite remarkable. The Festival of Speed was then still in its early incarnation, while the Revival would not be launched until 1998. Today the two events have become international benchmarks for how automotive history can be presented - not simply displaying important cars, but bringing the people, sights, sounds with legendary cars and drivers, and atmosphere surrounding them back to life, which Goodwood does better than anyone, so we’re looking forward to this year’s event.
This year's Goodwood Revival, September 18–20, will have a distinctly Italian flavor under the theme La Dolce Vita, celebrating the style, romance and motoring culture of mid-century Italy.
| | |
At the center of the weekend will be a celebration of 100 years of Maserati racing heritage, marking a century since the marque's first major competition success at the 1926 Targa Florio. Goodwood will also celebrate the 80th Anniversary of Vespa, with hundreds of the iconic Italian scooters expected to take part in the traditional track-opening parades.
For anyone who has attended the Revival, it isn't difficult to imagine how well the Goodwood setting will lend itself to La Dolce Vita. The clothing, paddocks, aircraft, motorcycles, music and period presentation representing the circuits former golden era of 1948 thru 1966 have always been as important to the experience as the racing itself.
Some of the crowd favorite race events will highlight the race schedule and the RAC TT Celebration is often the most exciting and hard-fought race of the Revival weekend with the 2026 edition of the RAC TT Celebration promising to be the most competitive yet.
| | |
Each year the Goodwood Revival welcomes an extraordinary line-up of motorsport royalty for a packed weekend of unmatched historic racing. Headlining the spectacular 2026 RAC TT Celebration are Formula 1 World Champions Jenson Button and Jacques Villeneuve, while four-time Indianapolis 500 winner Hélio Castroneves is set to make his highly anticipated debut at Goodwood this September alongside three-time Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti.
The grid will be further bolstered by an incredible gathering of global racing legends and multi-time champions. Le Mans icon Tom Kristensen and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson are set to join the fun alongside four-time British Touring Car Champion Colin Turkington. As some of the greatest drivers in their respective disciplines, this elite group guarantees that the 2026 Goodwood Revival will conclude in suitably dazzling fashion.

GOODWOOD COMES TO AMERICA
The popularity of the Goodwood event experience – the Festival of Speed, the Revival and the Members Meeting, has resulted in the recent launch of the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America with a new members club for those based in the USA.
Founded in 1998 by The Duke of Richmond, the Goodwood Road Racing Club was created as part of Goodwood’s remarkable return to motorsport. Built on the passion of the Goodwood Supporters’ Association, it launched alongside the Revival and has since grown into one of the world’s most recognizable enthusiast communities.
Beginning in 2027, a new California-based membership program will bring the Goodwood experience to the United States, with activities planned to include track days, driving tours and social gatherings in California and across the U.S.
The first planned major event in the US is scheduled for 2028 when Goodwood plans to hold its first headline event outside the United Kingdom at Willow Springs International Raceway in California.

ON MY BOOKSHELF
With so much of this month's Journal devoted to Pebble Beach, two publications seem particularly appropriate.
| | | | |
Heroes of the Forest:
The Complete History of the Pebble Beach Road Races
Mark R. Brinker
The Pebble Beach Road Races were held from 1950 through 1956 on the narrow and challenging roads winding through the Del Monte Forest. Those races helped establish the sporting atmosphere surrounding the fledgling Pebble Beach Concours and played an important role in the early careers of drivers including Phil Hill and Carroll Shelby.
Automotive historian, collector and racer Mark Brinker has undertaken the extraordinary task of documenting that history in Heroes of the Forest, a four-volume set covering the races, cars, competitors and personalities in unprecedented detail.
| | | |
Pebble Beach: A Matter of Style
Robert T. Devlin
Published in 1980 and long out of print, Robert T. Devlin's Pebble Beach: A Matter of Style documented both the Road Races of 1950–1956 and the first three decades of the Concours d'Elegance. It was a time when tens of thousands lined the public roads in the Del Monte forest to watch amateurs joust with one another in sports cars and home-built specials… for the fun of it. Supported by more than 500 photographs, it captured a period when racing through the Del Monte Forest was still within living memory and Pebble Beach was continuing its transformation into the internationally significant event we know today.
Copies occasionally appear through specialist booksellers and online. For anyone interested in the early history of Pebble Beach, it remains an excellent period reference.

WORTH ADDING TO YOUR CALENDAR
After celebrating Pebble Beach's 75th anniversary in August, the coming weeks provide two more significant automotive anniversaries much closer to home.
Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival — 70 Years
Auburn, Indiana
There are few American communities whose identity is as closely connected to the automobile as Auburn, Indiana. The city that gave us Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg celebrates that heritage every Labor Day weekend, and this year marks the 70th annual Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival. I've attended the Festival many times over the years, and one of its great strengths is that it remains very much a community celebration.
It isn't simply a car show. For more than a week, the entire Auburn area comes alive with collector cars, tours, museum activities, auctions, the famous downtown Cruise-In, the Parade of Classics and gatherings that attract enthusiasts from across the country and beyond.
The Festival itself is a not-for-profit organization, with its activities helping support Auburn's remarkable collection of automotive museums, including the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, National Auto & Truck Museum, and the Early Ford V-8 Foundation Museum.
| | |
Old Car Festival — 75 Years
Greenfield Village, Dearborn
One week later, on Aug 12 & 13, another Michigan automotive tradition celebrates its own milestone. In 1951, owners of early automobiles gathered at Greenfield Village, adjacent to The Henry Ford Museum, for what would become the Old Car Festival. Seventy-five years later, it remains America's longest-running antique automobile show and one of the most enjoyable events on the annual calendar.
Hundreds of vehicles from the 1890s through 1932 fill the roads of Greenfield Village, but what makes the weekend particularly special is that these aren't static displays. The cars are driven. They participate in motoring demonstrations, driving games and the traditional Pass-in-Review while the sights, sounds—and occasionally smells—of early motoring become part of the historic village itself.
I've always believed that automobiles are better understood when they are experienced in motion rather than simply viewed behind a rope, and few events demonstrate that better than Old Car Festival. This year's 75th anniversary celebration takes place September 12–13 and provides another reminder of how fortunate we are in Michigan to have so much automotive history quite literally in our own backyard.
| | |
UNTIL NEXT MONTH...
August is always an extraordinary month for anyone with an interest in automobiles, and this year somehow seemed even more remarkable than usual.
Pebble Beach's 75th anniversary brought together exceptional cars and people from around the world, Laguna Seca celebrated an increasingly important chapter of Japanese motorsport history, and Monterey once again demonstrated its unique ability to bring virtually every corner of the collector car community together in one place. Yet what stays with me after another Monterey Car Week isn't simply the value or rarity of the automobiles. It is the people.
Whether talking with an owner beside a car on the 18th Fairway, catching up with friends in the Laguna Seca paddock, meeting exhibitors who will soon be joining us in New York, or simply sharing stories over dinner after another very long day, those personal connections remain the most enjoyable part of our automotive world.
And now the calendar keeps moving. Auburn, Greenfield Village, Goodwood and many other events are waiting just around the corner before attention increasingly turns toward New York in November.
Wherever your automotive travels take you during the coming weeks, I hope they include good roads, good friends and memorable automobiles.
