Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As part of our commitment to keeping residents and stakeholders informed, we would like to share an update regarding our intent to file an application with the Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board (EFSB) before the end of the year for the Burlington Energy Project.
Attached is a copy our Notice of Intent (NOI) to file the project, which includes general information about the project, anticipated permits, mapping and other key project details. An NOI for a large clean energy project before the EFSB is an early notification to state agencies, local officials, and the public that a clean energy developer intends to seek approval for a proposed energy facility. The NOI provides advance awareness of the project and outlines Eversource’s plan to apply for a Consolidated Permit, which is a comprehensive state review and permitting process for qualifying energy infrastructure projects.
The Burlington Energy Project will be reviewed as a Large Clean Energy Infrastructure Facility under the EFSB's consolidated siting and permitting process.
The EFSB review process includes opportunities for public participation, including a public comment hearing conducted by the EFSB. Additional information regarding the Commonwealth's consolidated energy infrastructure siting and permitting process is available on the Massachusetts EFSB website, and information on the availability of intervenor funding to eligible entities through EFSB’s Intervenor Support Grant Program is available here: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/intervenor-support-grant-program.
We will alert members of the community ahead of these upcoming milestones using the project webpage and this newsletter.
Sincerely,
Ian Kea
