Meet Grant Schultz: Washington Activities Director

“It’s all about the kids and the relationships—the connections you build and the support that you can provide them. To see the rewards and accomplishments, and being able to celebrate everything that they’ve done, it’s just extremely rewarding to have that connection with them.”

Grant Schultz is grateful for many things in his role as activities director at Washington High School. Learn more about Schultz in the video above and link below.
Vaccine Clinics Are Major Success

The Linn County Public Health COVID-19 vaccine clinics for children ages 5-11—hosted last week by Cedar Rapids Community School District—were a success. The four clinics in CRCSD school buildings all had strong turnout with families waiting in line up to an hour before they began.

“Thanks to Linn County Public Health and Kirkwood Community College nursing students, we were able to vaccinate 400 kids at these clinics, which goes a long way in protecting our students, staff, and community,” explains Sandy Byard, health services coordinator. “Thank you to everyone who made the vaccine clinics a huge success—the response was incredible!”
Several CRCSD Schools Compete in
Robot Rumble

Eight Cedar Rapids Community School District teams competed in this week’s Robot Rumble, hosted by Metro High School.

Each team’s robot is built and programmed by students to operate independently and dependently. The robots must complete various tasks, such as placing blocks on an elevated surface and knocking rubber duckies off a platform. Points are awarded for each completed task.
