August was a difficult month, for the world and for us here at the ranch. As I've been navigating challenging emotions [my own and others], such as rage, sadness, despair, and uncertainty, I’ve noticed how much connecting with compassion helps me shift my feeling states and change my perspective on things.
Compassion is always available to us, even when life throws us challenges. Being compassionate helps us connect with a deeper sense of love and understanding.
Cultivating compassion isn’t always easy, and it can be especially tough to feel towards oneself or towards someone you dislike. Below are 5 good reasons to work on boosting compassion and some tips to get you started.

Compassion is the act of opening our hearts to others, acting out of kindness, understanding, and a desire to do something positive for another. Most would agree that compassion is an important quality to have. Yet, during the daily struggle of stresses and disappointments, it can be easy to forget just how important it is. Compassion is a simple and potent gift we always have the power to give – we need only choose to do so. Giving, helping, caring and listening are common ways to express compassion. Tom's* experience is a moving reminder of their powerful ability to help us heal.

The second is actively helping people gain personal and interpersonal awareness. The Strengths Deployment Inventory is one of the powerful tools we use to help people understand the motives and values that drive their own and others behavior, which in turn increases compassion. This understanding combined with interactive training, enables individuals to... Read more

"At Stand InBalance, I learned the importance of clear intent and communicating that 'essentialness of being' as well as what can arise during the cloudy/foggy stages of life. Coming here was a creative and powerful way to start seeing my patterns. And when we see differently, we can start doing differently."
