UNSUNG HEROES: A 4-Week Series from the Old Testament on Ruth

SERIES OVERVIEW:

Superheroes aren't heroic only when they feel like it— they're brave each and every day. The best heroes can even inspire the people around them to be brave, faithful, and hopeful in their own lives, too. In this 4-week series, kids will learn more about what it looks like to see God as the hero of our story as they hear the story of Ruth and Naomi. They'll see how God gives them companions, opportunities, boldness, and hope so they can be heroes, too!

Family Devotional

THIS WEEK

This week, kids learn about how Ruth chose to follow Naomi back to her hometown.

l BIG IDEA: God gives us companions.

l BIBLE: Ruth 1; Mark 12:28–34

ASK THIS

Because sometimes you and your kid need a conversation-starter that isn’t, “So . . . how was church?”

l What had happened to Naomi and Ruth that made them feel hopeless?

l Who are the companions God has given you already?

REMEMBER THIS

This month, your kids are memorizing the Bible verse Zephaniah 3:17a (NIV), in case you want to work on them together.

NEXT WEEK

Next week, kids learn about how Ruth met and found favor with Boaz.

NEW DATE: January 26th: Bible Blast

Sunday, January 26, 12:15-3:00pm 

Learning to Navigate our Bibles… Family Style.

This year, we are opening up our Bible Blast program to kids in the 3rd to 5th grades and their families.

 ***A parent is required to participate in this event. 

The reason? One facet of our vision statement at Cannon is to become One with Each Other. We want to equip you and your children effectively on how to use the Bible together.

It will be educational for you, your family, and your child. We will have high-energy Bible activities and a great amount of “Fun Facts” and Bible drills!

Bibles will be presented in church on January 26th during the 11:00 service. Once service is complete, at least one parent and their child(ren) will make their way to John Wesley, where we will begin our Bible adventure. 

We look forward to navigating the Bible with you and your kids!

Lunch will be provided!

I post the video-based lesson on Sunday at noon; you can watch or rewatch it as a family. We also post what's happening, as well as photos from time to time about what your kids are doing!
