Celebrating Our Staff at Friendly House

Dear Friends,

In honor of National Staff Appreciation Day, I want to take a moment to celebrate the remarkable people who make Friendly House the welcoming community it is. Across every program—whether supporting young children and families, creating safety and connection for older adults, or opening our doors to friends and neighbors seeking support and community—our staff bring not only their skills, professionalism, and dedication, but their whole, authentic selves. Shaped by their experiences, identities, and perspectives, our staff make sure that the people we serve can see themselves reflected here and feel the quiet assurance of belonging. They listen deeply, bridge differences, and create a place where we all can grow, find connection, and we gather in the spirit of inclusion and community.

The work of building community is rarely simple. It can be messy, tender, and demanding—especially in complex and divisive times. And yet, our staff continue to show up each day with compassion and patience, meeting a wide and vibrant cross-section of people with openness and care. I am profoundly grateful for the heart, resilience, and humanity that Friendly House staff bring to this work every day.

Their commitment to lifting up the individuals we serve—and to nurturing a place rooted in dignity, belonging, and connection—is what makes Friendly House so special.

With gratitude,

Mya Chamberlin

Executive Director

Harmony Music Circle: Meets every second Friday of every month. Join 20+ singers and 1-2 guitars to sing the great harmony songs of the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Pick a song from a songbook of classic pop and folk songs from the 60s and 70s (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young; The Beatles; John Denver; Simon & Garfunkel; Peter, Paul, & Mary; etc.) then our talented guitarist will lead us through the verses, and we’ll create our best harmonies.

Afterwards, we move to the next person in the circle and repeat! Fun, lots of opportunity to sing your heart out to songs you long to sing. We provide the songbooks.
