Practicing Our Faith
Dear St. Aidan's,
Thank you for welcoming me with open arms! I am thrilled to be your Curate. I have enjoyed getting to know you over the summer and learning from you, Fr. Mike, and Fr. Steve. Now with M. Mary Kate back, Bread+Belonging in full swing, and CU in session, the tempo has picked up—and I'm here for it!
One thing I'm excited about is a four-session class I'll be leading this fall called Practicing Our Faith. Our first session will be on Sunday, September 20 after church. I'll schedule subsequent sessions based on input from participants.
The course is for you if you're looking to deepen your understanding of and commitment to the way of Jesus in the Episcopal Church. It is designed to prepare people for baptism, confirmation, reception into the Episcopal Church, or formal reaffirmation of baptismal vows. It will culminate in two events: the Front Range regional confirmation, reception, and reaffirmation service with Bishop Kym on Saturday, October 24 at St. James, Wheatridge, and Holy Baptism on All Saints Day, Sunday, November 1, at St. Aidan's, at which time we'll also celebrate all class participants.
In the class, we will explore:
- What we seek: our spiritual journeys and the sacraments and rites that join us to the body of Christ
- How we relate to God: what we can learn from the Bible, the tradition of the church, and our capacity to reason and experience God
- What we claim to be true: our core theological commitments, sacraments, and how worship and belief are intertwined
- How we choose to live: prayer, vocation, parish life and ministry, and the fruits of baptism
Yes, it's a lot to cover in four sessions, and I am committed to rich conversation, not just me sharing information. We will inevitably go deep in some areas and scratch the surface in others. It'll be fine because we know formation is a lifelong project. :-)
Please register using this form or contact me if you have any questions. There's also a paper sign-up in the Parish Hall.
P.S. If you can't make all four sessions, don't worry – we'll figure it out!
Once again, thank you for welcoming me. It is a blessing to be at St. Aidan's.
Faithfully,
Deacon Cate

Volunteer to help with parking during football games
We need 4-6 volunteers every game day to help manage our parking lot. Please reach out to bal43rd@gmail.com to let him know what game you can volunteer for, and he'll get you all the information you need.
Every individual who volunteers for a game is giving the equivalent of thousands of dollars toward the St. Aidan’s operating budget. This is another way to pledge and to support your church. Check the church calendar for updated kickoff times, and we will keep you informed as the times are announced.
