Senior Health & Living

Easy Practices to Reduce Stress

At Moosehaven, we’re fortunate to live in a place where the sun shines bright – almost year-round. And while we all know the importance of sunscreen and shade, it’s also worth celebrating the good that sunshine can do for our bodies and minds, especially as we age.

Moosehaven AAA Update

AAA Project Progress

Despite the challenges of Florida’s July heat, significant progress continues on our construction project. Crews have completed the roof dry-in and are installing upper wall waterproofing, expected to be finished mid-week. Exterior metal framing is also set for completion this week, along with continued work on exterior DensGlass sheathing around select doors and windows.

Inside, the plumbing, electrical, fire sprinkler, and HVAC rough-ins are moving forward and will be completed in just a few weeks. At the pool area, final plumbing under the slab begins this week, with concrete placement and finishing for the pool deck scheduled shortly after.

Excitement is building as we near the start of drywall installation on walls and soffits. Our crews have gone above and beyond, working weekends and late evenings to stay on track. Their dedication ensures steady progress despite the summer heat, bringing us closer to the finish line each day.

Resident Activities

Pillowcase Sewing Event

The Florida Moose Association Heart of the Community Chairman, Kimberly Kelly, and Moosehaven resident and Moose International Director, Sandy Johnston, organized an event to make ‘Wish Cases’ for the Give Kids the World Village.

Since 1986, Give Kids The World has welcomed more than 200,000 families from all 50 states and 77 countries.

Bluegrass Event

Moosehaven residents enjoyed the lively tunes of Blast of Grass, a Bluegrass Band. Lots of hand clapping, foot tapping and dancing was done throughout the night. All enjoyed delicious fresh watermelon as a treat and everyone left smiling!

Virginia Moose Association Gives Back

Terry Treadwell, Moosehaven Board Member and member of the Virginia Moose Association (VMA) visited us bearing gifts! Members of the VMA donated money while at their Annual Convention Banquet and that money was divided and given out to our residents who are sponsored by Virginia Lodges and Chapters.

We can’t thank them enough for their generosity and we think the smiling faces speak for themselves!

Donuts & Coffee

Many of the Moosehaven Residents decided to give back! They collected money and donated toward purchasing coffee, fruit and donuts for all the construction workers on the AAA Project Recreation Center.

The residents appreciate all the hard work during rain and sun – and oh the sun! With the hot temperatures ‘feeling like’ over 100 degrees most days – these workers deserved a treat.

Pottery Studio Grand Opening

Moosehaven resident, Linda Mulligan, welcomed everyone to the grand opening of our Pottery Studio. A talented potter herself, Linda will offer weekly classes for residents interested in learning how to create art out of clay using a variety of techniques.

Please join us in saying "welcome home" to our newest residents who decided to take advantage of the wonderful retirement at Moosehaven!
