WHAT IS TRUE2U?
True2U is a volunteer mentoring program that helps Cleveland Metropolitan School District eighth graders explore their true selves and prepare to make the most of high school as the first step on the path to college and career readiness. It is the hands-on volunteer program that gives you the space and time to share what you’ve learned along your career path with today’s students. True2U includes an engaging curriculum along with the training to do it well. Just sharing your story with Cleveland students, and being a steady partner along the journey, will have ripple effects for the students and our city, for years to come.

True2U started in 2015 and now serves all 2500 8th graders in CMSD, with the support of about 400 volunteer mentors. As you can see below, we have a special program for 9th graders, too. Your volunteer support is appreciated!
TRUE2U IS SEEKING
9TH GRADE MENTORS!

A letter from our Program Director...

The True2U 9th Grade Mentoring program is a virtual, one-on-one mentoring program that provides additional support through the 9th grade year to scholars who have distinguished themselves during the 8th grade school-year True2U program. The program will help students to further develop their interests, strengths, goals, and build upon their leadership skills during seven Saturday sessions.

Each session will feature engaging icebreakers, group activities, thought-provoking discussions and one-on-one mentoring interactions that will help students succeed in high school and set them on a path to college and career readiness. Session themes include goal-setting, career awareness, money management, and planning for college, to name a few.

Mentoring will take place on November 21, December 5, January 9, February 6, March 6,
April 3, and May 8.

It's all virtual! Sessions will be conducted virtually – this means you can mentor from the comfort of your own space! For each session, our students are strongly encouraged to occupy a private space where they can actively listen and speak with minimal distraction.

This is a limited opportunity for 9th Graders. Your support and mentoring in the True2U 9th Grade Mentoring program is appreciated! Registration is completed online - see the link below.

Remote Learning Extended into Second Quarter

One important issue on the ballot next month is the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) 2020 School Levy. Citizens for Our Children’s Future, the citizens committee that leads campaigns for CMSD ballot issues, and NLI join to invite NLI leaders, alumni and friends to please engage leaders and members in your network about the school issue and enlist interested volunteers to spread support via texting, social media, (virtual) meet ups and yard signs.
