Canada’s Net-Zero Transition Could Create Up to 9.5 Million Job-Years in Construction
A new report from Green Jobs BC, Jobs for Today: Canada’s Building Trades and the Net-Zero Transition, projects that meeting Canada’s climate goals could generate between 6.3 million and 9.5 million job-years of work in the building trades by 2050. This surge represents an average of up to 350,000 ongoing jobs annually, equal to a 20–30% permanent increase in Canada’s current construction employment levels.

KPMG study indicates AI can help cut energy waste
Traditional retrofits are too slow and costly to deliver the scale of cuts required to reach net-zero goals of 2050, and buildings waste energy even after costly upgrades, but paths to better results do exist, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help, suggests a recent KPMG study on energy efficiency and management in buildings.
The company’s How AI is helping to improve energy efficiency and management in real estate report suggests the solution lies in Strategic Energy Management (SEM). SEM is a model that turns energy and emissions from long-term goals into day-to-day tasks backed by AI to achieve higher efficiency rates.
