From Your Administrative Team
Greetings Connect K8 Families,

We hope you enjoyed the rainy weather at the start of this week! We sure did :)

We are looking forward to gathering as a community at our "Let's Gather!" Fall Festival on Wednesday, and hope that you will join us! We'd also like to invite you and your family to contribute to our community Ofrenda as part of the celebration and acknowledgement of Dia de los Muertos. We owe a huge thank you to Core 3 student Julian and his mom, Kahiry, for setting up the below Ofrenda for our community!

To those who celebrate, we wish you a wonderful Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, and Diwali! We also recognize that there may be an influx of candy and treats in many homes this weekend--please help our students have a successful day at school by not packing candy in lunchboxes. Thank You!

Take Good Care,
Kaitlin and Tami
Drop Off Procedures
*Please read*
We continue to see unsafe choices being made in our morning drop off routines. Please review the below information, and use the drop off route correctly to ensure everyone's safety. Please also only cross the street using designated cross walks.

If you plan to exit your vehicle at all during drop off, even for a quick hug goodbye, please plan to park your car in the parking lot and walk your child to campus. The drop off line is for students exiting cars only. We have seen some unsafe choices being made to avoid or pass cars that are stopped/parked in the drop off line. Please remain in your car if you choose the drop off line and allow your child to exit independently. Please also be mindful as a driver and pedestrian in our parking lot. We share space with WUSD's preschool program, so there are many little bodies entering and exiting the lot in the am. Thank you for following these procedures to support the safety and efficiency of our morning routine!
FAN's Fall Festival: "Let's Gather!"
Wednesday, 11/3 3:30-5:30pm

Please RSVP HERE tp sign up to attend and participate in our Fall Festival! Below are some invitations for participation at this incredible event hosted by our Core 3 families!

1. A plant swap table: Our Core 5 students are generously gifting their plants they've grown during project time. Feel free to bring a plant to swap or take one home to continue growing!

2. A giving table: We will provide space for families to donate socks in coordination with our Kindness Campaign Socktober event, as well as baby gifts, diapers, and grocery gift cards (Albertsons, Ralphs, Food for Less, Grub Hub) for Melvin Johnson's family

3. A Nourishing table: Food is one of the best parts of gathering! Feel free to sign up to bring a baked good (either homemade or storebought is fine) to share with our community. Please keep in mind that all food should be prepared in individual portions as a COVID precaution. We also encourage families to bring their own re-usable plates/napkins/cultery. We will have some extra plates available.

4. Dia de los Muertos Community Ofrenda: Feel free to contribute an offering to our community Ofrenda to honor a loved one who has passed (memories of pets are welcome, too!). An offering can be anything from a copy of a photograph, a note to your loved one, a drawing, etc. We hope to have the Ofrenda available for students to contribute and observe throughout the week.

*If any of our families who celebrate Diwali would like to help us find a way to learn more about and celebrate this holiday at the event, please reach out to Kaitlin ASAP!
