“As we observe this World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation (Sept. 1, 2026), we are once again invited to contemplate the gift of life and to cherish the earth that sustains it, for they are tangible ways of offering praise to our Creator.” -- Pope Leo (OSV News photo/Bob Roller)

CHIMING THE HOUR

PRAYER OF GRATITUDE FOR GOD’S CREATION

Creator God, thank you for the beauty of the world you have made. You saw all that you created, and it was very good. The trees, the skies, the animals, and every living thing reflect your glory and care. Help us to pause and appreciate the wonder around us. Let our hearts be filled with gratitude for the gift of life and the earth that sustains us. Teach us to care for your creation as faithful stewards, honoring you in how we live and love. May we always see your fingerprints in nature and praise you for all that you have made. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

*GLORIA: GtG 582

Glory to God, Whose Goodness Shines on Me

Glory to God, whose goodness shines on me,

and to the Son, whose grace has pardoned me,

And to the Spirit, whose love has set me free.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

World without end, without end. Amen.

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be. Amen.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 2:1-5

2 The word that Isaiah son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 In days to come

    the mountain of the Lord’s house

shall be established as the highest of the mountains

    and shall be raised above the hills;

all the nations shall stream to it.

3  Many peoples shall come and say,

“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,

    to the house of the God of Jacob,

that he may teach us his ways

    and that we may walk in his paths.”

For out of Zion shall go forth instruction

    and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

4 He shall judge between the nations

    and shall arbitrate for many peoples;

they shall beat their swords into plowshares

    and their spears into pruning hooks;

nation shall not lift up sword against nation;

    neither shall they learn war any more.

5 O house of Jacob,

    come, let us walk

in the light of the Lord!

This is the Word of the Lord.

Thanks be to God!

LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
