Your Ideas Can Create The Humor Effect

AATH is now accepting session proposals for the 2027 AATH Annual Conference, taking place April 1–4, 2027, in Minneapolis, MN.

This year’s theme, The Humor Effect: How Humor Helps Heal, Connect, & Grow, explores the meaningful ways humor supports well-being, strengthens relationships, and inspires learning and action.

We invite professionals, researchers, educators, healthcare providers, coaches, speakers, students, and humor practitioners to share their knowledge, experience, research, and practical strategies with the AATH community.

Proposed sessions should align primarily with one of our three conference pillars:

  • Humor Helps Heal: Supporting health, resilience, mental wellness, healing, and flourishing

  • Humor Helps Connect: Strengthening communication, collaboration, trust, belonging, and community

  • Humor Helps Grow: Developing leaders, educators, professionals, and changemakers through learning and action

We are looking for engaging and relevant presentations that advance the knowledge and practice of applied and therapeutic humor. Proposals incorporating current research, practical applications, audience participation, and clear learning outcomes are especially encouraged.

Proposal deadline: September 15, 2026

New This Year – Session Proposal Preparation Guide

To help you put your best ideas forward, we've created a Session Proposal Preparation Guide. This companion resource walks you through every section of the application, explains what reviewers are looking for, and provides space to draft your responses before completing the online submission.

Whether you're a first-time presenter or a seasoned speaker, the guide is designed to make the proposal process easier and help you submit a stronger application.

Know someone whose work belongs on the AATH stage? Please forward this invitation and encourage them to submit a proposal!
