GCDD Call to Action
Legislative Advocacy Action Alert
The time is now to make your voices heard!

On Monday, February 13th, you have an opportunity to speak to key legislators about the need for more NOW/COMP waivers and higher wages for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). The House Appropriations Human Resources Subcommittee meeting is this Monday, February 13th, at 2:30 in room 406 of the Coverdell Legislative Office building.

Currently, the governor has recommended 250 new Waiver slots. There will be an opportunity for public comment, and we ask that all advocates who are interested and available attend the meeting and speak on the need for more waivers and better wages for DSPs. GCDD is advocating for 2,400 waivers and $15 wages this year.

Please arrive before 2:30 and be sure to put your name on the sign-up sheet.

If you are unable to attend Monday, a second opportunity to provide public comment is on Tuesday, February 14th. That meeting starts at 2:30 and will be in the capitol building, room 341.

Please contact Charlie Miller, GCDD’s Legislative Advocacy Director, at charles.miller@gcdd.ga.gov or (404) 617-9957 if you have any questions about this advocacy opportunity.

Thank you for your advocacy work!
