MRFF VICTORY OVER BIBLE VERSE
DOG TAGS DURING TRUMP ADMINISTRATION
BEING BLAMED BY RIGHT-WING MEDIA
ON BIDEN’S “WOKE” DEFENSE DEPARTMENT

Back in 2019 – while Trump was president – MRFF had a major victory in getting the Department of Defense (DoD) to follow its own regulations and disallow the use of official trademarked DoD emblems on a Christian jewelry company’s Bible verse dog tags.

Some MAGA folk are now blaming the “woke” Biden DoD for this MRFF victory – a victory that occurred during the Trump administration – with article titles like,
“Joe Biden dropped the hammer on Christian soldiers
in a shameful move against a Pentagon supplier.”

Stop blaming the Biden Defense Department for something that happened under the former guy

[...] The military’s decision to disallow Shields of Strength from using official DoD emblems on its Bible verse dog tags happened over two years ago, in 2019, when the former guy was still president. That pesky fact, however, isn’t stopping the luminaries over at Culture Watch News from blaming it on Biden, in a post titled “Joe Biden dropped the hammer on Christian soldiers in a shameful move against a Pentagon supplier,” or former Fox News personality Todd Starnes blaming it on a “Woke Pentagon” in his article “Woke Pentagon Caves to Bullies, Yanks Faith-Based Dog Tags.”

According to Culture Watch News, “Regardless of what happens, activist groups against Christians will be emboldened with Joe Biden in office.”

There are two things wrong with that sentence. First, MRFF is not anti-Christian. In fact, 95% of MRFF’s over 77,000 clients are actually Christians. And, second, MRFF doesn’t need to be emboldened by Joe Biden. We were every bit as bold when the former guy was in office!

Insurrection has led to dereliction of duty

Friday, January 7, 2022
Retired Army Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, a MRFF Advisory Board Member, visiting Professor of Government and Public Policy at the College of William and Mary, and former Chief of Staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell and co-author Dennis Laich explore the “issue of mass insubordination and dereliction of duty related to COVID-19 vaccination” going on in the military right now, with tens of thousands of service members refusing to get vaccinated, suggesting the possible reasons of “politicization of the vaccine and the fact that service members come disproportionately from parts of our nation and socio-religious orientations where resistance to vaccinations is greatest.”

Hi Mikey:

I wrote a letter to the Salisbury Post re: the dog tag issue and the writer’s manufactured outrage. Today she replied. https://www.salisburypost.com/2022/01/09/letter-outrage-is-real/

I contributed to MRFF as a direct result of her mentioning MRFF in her rant. Keep up the good work.

Best wishes,
Pete Prunkl
