Special Valentine Edition💜

Greetings!

Last week we had a great rally which highlighted the "Signs Of Fascism" and the danger, which come with authoritative regimes. This newsletter shares a new video culled from some of the folks who attended.

💜 This Saturday, Valentine's Day we'll again assemble, this time on the west side of town, near the Premier Co-op. Check out the specifics in this newsletter, along with a reminder of this Sunday's event with Mike McCabe.

This newsletter also shares information on how you can directly help Minnesota endure it's ICE occupations. ➡️ FORWARD TOGETHER!

Concerned citizens will unite on Valentine Day in a L💜ve Fest for democracy. We will meet near the Mount Horeb Premier Co-op with "Signs Of Fascism" on display. Bring your signs, or we will have themed signs. We will again peacefully assemble out of a deep and abiding love of country and concern about the forces which threaten civil rights and liberties. Sueña, Mi Nación 💜

Ebiyan House Substack by Mike McCabe

Couldn’t understand the words, still the message came through loud and clear. Never have been especially swift at picking up languages, or deciphering lyrics sung in my mother tongue for that matter. Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio got his points across in spite of my shortcomings.

REIMAGINE RESISTANCE

WHEN:

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22,

6 PM

WHERE: Brix Cider🍎

119 S. Second Street, MoHo

Resistance is not a knee jerk response to alarm. Resistance does not mean hardening ourselves into a dark, protective shell. Resistance isn’t always about pushing back louder and harder.

Resistance can be about walking into dark places and finding a way to shine some light even where it seems impossible.

We will gather for an evening of shared reflection around the realities and human impact of ICE and immigration enforcement. The night will include music and poetry as well as some informative guest speakers.

We are grateful to welcome Dan Zimmerman, coordinator of the Dane Sanctuary Coalition, and David Couper, retired Madison Police Chief and pastor, among confirmed speakers.

There will also be an open mic for those who wish to share information, stories, questions, or creative expression.

This is not a rally, it is not a debate, it is not a performance of righteousness. It is a space to illuminate what feels overwhelming, and to remember that even when the dark feels impenetrable, a small light still matters.

💜 From the Minnesota Front Lines

SWWAP is committed to standing with the people of Minnesota until ICE is out. There are still 2000+ ICE agents in Minneapolis/Saint Paul, even as the Trump administration claimed they were de-escalating the occupation by withdrawing 700 agents.

Following is a description which comes directly from a Twin Cities resident who is on the ground doing welfare checks on neighbors, delivering groceries and serving as a neighborhood ICE Observer.

“… Last Friday we all hit a wall of seemingly unmanageable despair. Although the emotional roller coaster continues the sense of despair has shifted, it feels like in our little corner, manageable. Perhaps that is my delusion for day. ….

Zion Community Commons (ZCC) have been our main resource for food and diapers.  They’ve helped bring sanity to our process and nutrient dense foods to our families. Fresh produce, no junk food.

Zion Community Commons (ZCC) only takes cash donations because they don’t have the space to store physical items. They manage this by making 2-3 runs a day to food warehouses to buy exactly what is needed at wholesale prices….”

As you read this, and consider how you can help, please think long-term. Not everyone will have the resources to donate every week. But we ALL have the capacity to share this information with our own connections.

Zion Community Commons is affiliated with Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Paul. This news article about ZCC’s work when snap benefits were cut off is worth your time to read as well.

Please consider donating to Zion Community Commons if you are able. Either way, please copy/paste and share this information with your own network of friends and family. Help let Minnesota know we hear her voice by acting to support her now, in her time of greatest need.
