Conestoga trailer

Dry Van Trailer vs. Reefer Trailer vs. Conestoga Trailer

A dry van trailer is a standard, enclosed semi-trailer with no special features, e.g., refrigeration. They are used to transport a variety of dry, non-perishable goods, such as consumer products, electronics, and building materials. They provide weather and theft protection for cargo and are the most common type of trailer in the trucking industry.

A reefer trailer (a.k.a. refrigerated trailer) is an insulated and temperature-controlled semi-trailer used to transport perishable goods that require specific temperature conditions, such as fresh produce, meat, dairy, pharmaceuticals, and flowers.

A Conestoga trailer is a specialized type of flatbed trailer equipped with a rolling, retractable tarp system that protects cargo from the elements while allowing for easy loading and unloading from all sides. Conestogas also reduce loading time and minimize the risk of damage compared to traditional flatbeds.

Atlantic Trailer rents, sells and services dry van and Conestoga trailers.

Scuffliner

8 Ways Trailer Specs Can Save You Money

Trailers are exposed to road salt, potholes, forklifts and the daily grind of freight hauling. The right specs can greatly reduce breakdowns, downtime and expensive repairs. They can also reduce repair bills, keep drivers on the road and extend your trailer’s lifespan.

Here are some smart specs to consider:

> Stronger walls for forklift protection - Composite panels of galvanized steel or reinforced interiors last longer than aluminum or plywood liners

> Scuffliners that take abuse - Aluminum and stell scuffliners protect the trailer's interior

> Floors that don't quit - Crossmembers with 10' or 8' centers boost the floor's weight capacity

> Self-lubricating landing gear - Reduces the needs for constant servicing

> Slider systems that work - Air-assisted slider pins mean no more hammering stuck pins

> Extended-life brakes - Reduces service intervals

> Armor against rust - Galvanized or stainless steel undercarriage components increase corrosion resistance

> Lights that last - LED resists vibration offer longer service life and improve driver safety.
