We Have Exciting News for Aspiring Doulas

Before the big announcement, let's reflect on where we've been...

Stronger Together Doula Support was launched as a pilot with our first cohort fully credentialed in the spring of 2023. It was designed to address maternal morbidity and mortality disparities, focusing on Black American women in neighborhoods with higher rates of poor birth outcomes.

Since then, the project has become established as a core agency program, training and matching both Black American and Haitian women. Creating this local workforce of doulas that provide culturally aligned, physical and emotional perinatal support has improved maternal and infant health in our community.

To date, we have graduated 75 doulas and supported 171 births. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support and interest in this program that has allowed growth far exceeding expectations.

You Asked, We Answered

After much interest and our efforts to improve maternal health for all, Stronger Together doula cohort applications are open to all women in Palm Beach County interested in becoming a doula!

This exciting program milestone will allow us to accept more cohort members who will be equipped to serve pregnant and postpartum families across the county, with goals of improving maternal health and reducing maternal morbidity and mortality.

Have you been feeling called to support and empower families as a doula?

This is your sign to turn that passion into purpose.

Cohort members must:

Be a resident of Palm Beach County

Pass a Level II background screening

Doulas who are selected for the cohort will receive all training and materials at no cost. Additionally, each doula will be paid a stipend for two births during their training period.

Why Now?

We are always working to do more for local pregnant and postpartum families, so when opportunities arise, we act.

Under the new From the Start Initiative, unlimited doula care is now covered by all Florida Medicaid plans, leading to more opportunities for growing families to get support!

As more families have access to compassionate, culturally responsive care during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery, the need for dedicated doulas has never been greater.

In response to this policy advancement and the growing need, Stronger Together is ready to expand services, support a larger doula workforce, and ensure more families access the care they deserve.
