ASNY RINGS IN LUNAR NEW YEAR 2020 WITH DEEP BOWS OF GRATITUDE TO PROFESSION
|
Dear Colleagues:
ASNY celebrated the auspicious Lunar New Year of the Golden Rat at the upscale interiors of Penthouse #7, a home of our beloved acupuncture philanthropist Peter Caron, LAc. The Rat is the first in the 12-year cycle of the Lunar Zodiac and we have started this long cycle in the element of the Metal, the white color, the energy of renewal, stability, strength and prosperity. We celebrated our glorious accomplishments of 2019 and invited our colleagues to strengthen and further promote unity within the acupuncture profession. Evening was ful of socializing with our local acupuncturists and comparing notes on advocacy, education, business and family.
We encouraged inviting our doctor friends and colleagues interested in learning more about acupuncture and eastern herbal medicine as was a perfect environment to educate them. Students were networking with current LAc's in the tristate area and inquired for information who to work with or trade tips on how to run their future practice.
Hot topics this year were the Acupuncture acceptance within the Workers' Compensation System in NY State that took effect on 1/1/2020,
ASNY Advocacy Day in Albany on April 22nd, the Annual Acupuncture Conference by ASAcu.org in Washington,D.C. and the Acupuncture Advocacy Day on the Hill in May 2020.
ASNY would like to express it deepest gratitude to our sponsors:
Peter Caron for being the most gracious host
Energy.cz and LhasaOMS.com for amazing gift bags and the evening grand prize
Kamwo.com for a lovely and super fun PhotoBooth
Mona Yuan for the delicious wine selection
Please, be so kind and share your photos on our ASNY Facebook Group page with a tag #ASNY2020.

Live simulcast option available.
This symposium will focus on the neuroscientific mechanisms of acupuncture for pain and symptom management and its application in cancer care.
On the
first day
, we will connect neuroscience and basic research with clinical evidence for oncology acupuncture symptom management. Our international panelists will also present the progress and challenges of providing acupuncture services in the oncology setting.
On the
second day
(half-day), we will focus on implementation by opening with a multidisciplinary discussion on integration of acupuncture for symptom management, followed by breakout workshops in the areas of designing and conducting high quality acupuncture clinical trials in oncology, building clinical oncology acupuncture programs, training oncology acupuncturists, and implementing acupressure interventions for oncology patients. We will conclude by formulating an action plan for moving forward.
This symposium is intended for health care providers (physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, psychologists, social workers, and acupuncturists) who diagnose, manage, and treat side effects of cancer treatment and those who develop programs (administrators) to improve quality of life for people with cancer.
Live Simulcast Available (day 1 only)*
We are pleased to offer a live simulcast for day one only. CME credit is offered for the live simulcast and active participation is required throughout the course. We do hope you will attend in person but understand that can sometimes be a challenge, so we are happy to offer the live simulcast as an option. Registration for the simulcast is required; please select the "Live Simulcast" option during course registration. A link to view the symposium will be emailed to you the day before the course begins.
Please note that the live simulcast is only available to non-MSK attendees. MSK employees are welcome to register for this course in person.
