Friends & Neighbors:
For many years, Keep It Green has worked to protect the Waccamaw Neck through education, advocacy, and citizen engagement.
Over the past several weeks, the Waccamaw Neck has witnessed a remarkable series of events.
- First, District 6 (Pawleys Island/Litchfield) voters overwhelmingly chose a new direction by electing Bill Ringer in a landslide Republican Primary victory against Stella Mercado.
- Then came three unanimous decisions by the South Carolina Court of Appeals in favor of citizen groups, reversing trial court dismissals and confirming that Georgetown County disregarded state law.
-
Now another well-respected, independent community leader has stepped forward. Lifelong Murrells Inlet resident, Sandra Bundy, has announced her candidacy for Georgetown County Council District 1 by nomination petition.
For the first time in many years, the Waccamaw Neck has the opportunity to elect three County Council representatives who are committed to protecting our community and putting residents first.
It's been a remarkable few weeks. The tide is turning on the Waccamaw Neck.
SANDRA BUNDY ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY
Sandra Bundy, former Planning Commissioner and Murrells Inlet resident, has formally announced that she is seeking election to Georgetown County Council District 1 as an Independent candidate nominated by petition.
As a lifelong resident of Murrells Inlet and daughter of the late Captain Alex and Betty Jo Sing, Sandra has deep generational roots in the community she hopes to serve and understands the importance of planning responsibly for its future.
Many in our community know Sandra through her years of service on the Georgetown County Planning Commission, where she consistently supported responsible land use decisions that followed the law, respected the County's Comprehensive Plan, and gave meaningful consideration to public input.
Her longstanding commitment to protecting the natural resources and unique character of the Waccamaw Neck has earned her the respect of residents across our community.
According to her announcement, Sandra is running because she believes District 1 deserves independent representation that will protect our creek, preserve our heritage, and plan responsibly for the future.
Her announcement reflects values that residents of the Waccamaw Neck have advocated for many years.
PETITION SIGNATURES NEEDED IMMEDIATELY
Before her name can appear on the November ballot, Sandra must obtain petition signatures from 5% of registered voters in District 1 by July 10.
