The Ally: Family Means We Are Not Alone

So here we are — the first "Ally" in which I have the privilege of carrying forward the ideas of Nikki, Coreaner, and Henry. When we talked it through, we agreed on a simple balance: highlighting the journeys of our families (LaRonda Langston), and the journeys of those who support us (Felicia Marshall of "Grant Me Justice" and Family Specialist Tara Manning). We'll also share the events, news, and opportunities that matter to families navigating the system of care, including big news about changes to Mississippi's Youth Court system.

As I write this, I'm sitting with the other parents at the trampoline park, watching over our makeshift flock. It still amazes me how easily kids make friends—and, let's be honest, sometimes enemies, then friends again by the time you look up. Were we like that too?

We are family. Family means that we are not alone. It is always good to have that reminder.

So that there's no doubt about continuity: we'll close every introduction the way Dr. Joy Hogge always did — "Go Forth and Conquer!"
