November 8, 2024

The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it,

the world and all who dwell therein.

For it is he who founded it upon the seas

and made it firm upon the rivers of the deep.

Updates from Staff

With winter weather upon us, a reminder that the St. Luke's office follows Denver Public Schools' weather related closure policy. The St. Luke's office is closed today, Friday November 8, in accordance with this policy.

The staff at St. Luke's - Rev. Amy Lythgoe, Valerie Brown, Tom Strickland, and Gordy Tucker - have adopted the Communications Covenant, which will be presented to the congregation for adoption at the Annual Meeting in February.

If you received an email survey/poll from the office regarding inclusion in the St. Luke's directory, please complete it and submit it as soon as possible. The survey takes less than a minute (really!) and we do need your permission to include your contact information in the direction.

Vestry Updates

Following Perry Pearce's resignation as our Junior Warden, we are pleased to announce current vestry member Joe Kay has agreed to fill the position. Thank you, Perry, for your dedicated service on behalf of our many building and grounds needs. And thank you, Joe, for your "yes" in filling our open warden position.

In addition, Scott Sprague has been appointed to the vestry for the remainder of this church year and will appear on the 2025 annual meeting ballot to be elected as our new senior warden. We're grateful for his willingness to help serve and lead our community. His appointment follows Bridget McAndrew's resignation last month.

Finally, as Michelle Tripeny prepares to step down as our clerk at the next annual meeting, she will be working with Valerie Brown to bring her up to speed in advance of her serving as our 2025 clerk. Thank you to both of them for working together to ensure a smooth transition.

We are still seeking a new treasurer following Woody Block's resignation effective at the annual meeting. Please reach out to Mother Amy (rector@stlukesdenver.org) to learn more about the position and whether you may feel called to serve.

Join with Paddington Station

to support Aurora Interfaith!

In 2023, Aurora Interfaith served 34% more participants than in 2022. That increase shows the real-time need for food assistance in the community. In 2023, they served 40,768 community members, provided 434,223 meals, paid $73,610 in households’ electric and water bills, distributed 325 holiday food kits and 91 homeless emergency kits. In conjunction with Paddington Station we will collect non-perishable food and personal care items in the shopping cart in the Parish Hall through November 17th. On November 20 Aurora Interfaith will pick up the donations at Paddington Station.
