Voyageurs Wolf Project:
A New Season for Wolf Research
...Voyageurs National Park has one of the highest densities of beavers in the entire country, so it’s logical that wolves here would rely heavily on beavers for food. In fact, the average wolf in Voyageurs eats 8-10 beavers per summer. The cool part is, researchers were never sure that wolves have the behavioral flexibility to eat such varied prey, and to switch to ambush hunting when the need arose. Now we have a much better grasp on their summer predation habits—which include catching fish and lapping up blueberries as well!

Reuse
While digging through the Museum's storage room, sometimes I just have to shake my head. I might find an oddly shaped piece of plywood, mysterious rubber gasket, or strange metal stake and wonder, why would anyone save this? But occasionally one of those squirreled-away items is exactly what I need.

A Better Photographer
I wore my photographer hat the other day as I worked with the Museum's collections. This isn't to say that I have much skill, however. My expertise with using the Museum's Panasonic digital camera is rudimentary at best despite my continued attempts to better familiarize myself with its functions. Yet the collection requires that I keep this hat ready on its hook.
