Explain your relationship with Project Harmony.
In Specialized Youth Services, I am a part of the intake and case management teams. I review missing persons reports submitted by law enforcement and assist with the intake process to ensure each case is ready to be assigned to a specialist. The youth referred to our program may face significant risks, including running away or trafficking. Through case management, I have the opportunity to build connections with youth and their families while helping them access the support, resources and services they need.
What led you to work at Project Harmony?
While I was in college, I had the opportunity to attend an art show at Project Harmony. My team and I got to tour the organization, meet with some of the Project Harmony staff and learn more about their work. That experience left a lasting impression on me, and I knew right then that I wanted to become part of this organization someday.
Tell me about someone who has influenced your work or a mentor who has helped the most in your career.
My parents have always been my biggest support system. They are big on doing what makes you happy because life is too short to not do so.
When you are not working, how do you enjoy spending your time?
I enjoy spending time with my 1-year-old child and creating new memories as a family whether it’s going to the zoo, watching sports or going to the pool! We love to stay busy and enjoy every day to its fullest.
What is the one thing you are most proud of about your job?
I love having the opportunity to go out into the community, connect with my clients and build meaningful relationships with them. They continually inspire me with their resilience, strength and determination as they work through adversity. I also learn so much from each person I meet, and their experiences continue to shape my perspective. Knowing that I can make a meaningful difference while learning from the youth I serve is what makes this work so fulfilling.
What is your favorite quote?
“The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it." -Rafiki
