SENIOR PASTOR'S MESSAGE

Greetings friends,

This Sunday at First Church, we conclude our journey through Paul’s letter to the Philippians with a timely and deeply human question: What are you feeding your soul?

In a world that often feels loud, anxious, distracted, and endlessly demanding of our attention, Paul offers a different way, one rooted not in denial or escape, but in trust, resilience, and the steady presence of Christ.

Together we will reflect on what truly sustains us in every season of life. Join us for worship as we seek stillness, perspective, strength, and grace in the midst of a busy world.

Grace & Peace,

Patrick

GHS Community Closet Collections on Summer Hiatus

A huge THANK YOU to everyone in the congregation who supported the GHS Community Closet through donations in the back of the Meetinghouse. I am so proud that we were among the early supporters of this program to get food and essentials into the hands of GHS students in need, and we truly made an impact. Over 100 students were registered to access the closet, with around 60 visiting each week. Our donations of food and household essentials made a huge difference in the health and well-being of the students and their families.

A special shout-out to Nancy and Peter Strohmeier and Sara Stuckey for helping transport our donations to the high school - we are grateful! With the school year winding down, Sunday, June 7th will be our last collection until the fall. Any questions, please reach out to me (Pam) at pspeer22@gmail.com

Moral Mondays

Moral Mondays take place every Monday at 12:30 (NOTE NEW TIME) at the Stamford courthouse and offer a visible, interfaith space for prayerful presence and public moral witness when justice and human dignity feel under threat. In our local community, we gather for faithful witness to Immigrant Justice in our neighborhoods and nation.

For ongoing updates and coordination, colleagues and community members are also welcome to join our Moral Mondays Facebook group HERE

HAPPENINGS IN OUR FIRST CHURCH BUILDING

STICK YOGA: Saturday mornings, from 10.30 - 11.30 am

FREE TRIAL CLASS for members of First Church and after that $20 per class.

Bamboo stick yoga is a captivating fun way to explore stretching, balancing, conscious breathing and coordination, using a long light (bamboo) stick. It improves spatial awareness, posture, mobility and a mind-body connection, releasing stress. Supporting flexibility, stability and ease in our bodies, appropriate for any age. Some movements come from a Qigong method.

Please bring a yoga mat, and a yoga stick. You can purchase one online (e.g. the Karma Heart Yoga Stick), or make one, or use a broomstick. The stick should be approximately as tall as you. It could also be helpful to have a blanket if you like support for your head or knees. Email teacher Herma Janssen for more information: herma26janssen@outlook.com

TAI CHI: Monday or Thursday (with advance sign up). All monies go directly to First Church. Please sign-in before class.

Contact Will Morrison for more information: wdmorrison@gmail.com

REGULAR WEEKLY HAPPENINGS

Bring your little ones to church -

we completely EMBRACE them.

At First Church, we believe the way we welcome children in worship directly affects the way they respond to God, to the church, and to one another.

To welcome children as they are in worship, we have our PrayGround, located in the Chapel (front right side of the Meetinghouse), where children and others of all ages can engage in worship through movement, sensory materials, and prayerful play.

The presence of all God’s children is a gift to the church, which offers hope for all. Scan the QR code to access PrayGround FAQs and Helpful Tips.
