Rauner Library Field Trip
Last week, Crossroads seventh graders visited the Rauner Library in Hanover, NH. There, students investigated historical memorabilia and related them to their recent classroom Core Knowledge units. Highlights included President John F. Kennedy's signature, Frost journal featuring the first line of "The Gift Outright", a manuscript of "The Gift Outright" on Dartmouth College stationary, Caleb Bingham's Columbian Orator (Frederick Douglass treasured this rhetoric textbook.), the first known draft of "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" enclosed in a handwritten letter and signed by Robert Frost, JFK inaugural medallion, and original block prints for You Come Too. We're so grateful to have the opportunity to see these bits of history first-hand!
