Dear Saints Family,
May Christ continue to shape us as His servants, granting us wisdom, patience, and confidence as we steward the blessings and responsibilities He has placed before us.
We are writing with an update regarding the previously announced campus enhancement project and the plan to relocate Buildings E, F, and J from the North Campus to the lower field area near Building A. We remain confident that this transition will further centralize student learning, integrate more of our arts programming into the daily life of the main campus, improve access and community, and open future opportunities for long-term campus growth; however, the project timeline is being adjusted.
After meeting with representatives from Cordoba, our project manager, we have learned that while LPA and C.W. Driver have worked diligently to deliver required documentation and studies to the City of Irvine, the City’s review process has resulted in unanticipated delays. Early discussions indicated that modifications to our Conditional Use Permit would not be required; however, as the City’s review progressed in greater detail, it was confirmed that a minor CUP modification would be necessary. This additional step, along with the time required to complete additional structural analysis for the existing North Campus buildings, has extended the timeline beyond what would allow us to confidently relocate the buildings and have classroom space fully ready for occupancy by the start of the 2026-2027 school year. As a result, Buildings E, F, and J will not be relocated this summer.
While we are disappointed that the original timeline must be adjusted, this is the wise and responsible decision for our students, families, faculty, and staff. Beginning a school year in the middle of a major construction project, especially when not all classrooms are fully available, would create unnecessary disruption and uncertainty for our students and the entire Saints community. Our desire is to begin the 2026-2027 academic year with clarity, stability, and readiness for our students and families.
Based on this new information, we are discussing a revised approach that would divide the swing phase into two parts. Under this potential plan, the modular buildings would remain in their current locations for the 2026-2027 school year. We are actively investigating whether grading and foundation work can still be completed this summer, with the actual relocation of the buildings anticipated for the summer of 2027.
This approach has several advantages as it eliminates the risk of a delayed or disrupted start to the 2026-2027 academic year, preserves the efforts already completed, allows the project team additional time to secure necessary approvals, and provides an extended timetable for the eventual relocation of the North Campus buildings. Moving quickly is not always the same as moving wisely; we desire to proceed with confidence, clarity, and care.
For students and families, this means that the 2026-2027 school year is expected to begin with classrooms remaining in their current locations. We will communicate any summer impacts related to grading, foundation work, fencing, field access, parking, or facilities operations as those details are confirmed.
Saints, this adjustment reflects a thoughtful response to new information, and we appreciate your prayers and support. Scripture reminds us, “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established” (Proverbs 16:3). We have committed this work to the Lord from the beginning, and we continue to do so now. Faithful planning sometimes involves moving forward boldly, while at other times, as in the present moment, it requires us to pause, assess, and revise our approach with both patience and wisdom.
Thank you for your continued prayers, encouragement, partnership, and support. Please join us in praying for wisdom for our leadership team, favor and clarity with the City of Irvine, safety for all involved, and faithful stewardship of the resources entrusted to Crean Lutheran High School.
In Christ,
