Clean Out Your Computer Day

Initially sponsored by the Institute for Business Technology in 2000, Clean Out Your Computer Day is celebrated on the second Monday of February each year. That means that it will be celebrated on February 10th this year - just one day before our next issue of Tech Talk News reaches your email.

What Is The Holiday About?

The holiday is about keeping your computer organized and running as smoothly as possible. Whether that is assisting the device to load sooner or helping you, the user, to find files quicker, this holiday is all about efficiency.

How Can I Celebrate?

The safest way to celebrate is to first be sure that you are backing all of your data up somehow. That way it is kept safe and can be recovered in the case of an accident. It is also useful to have backups of files or programs that you may not use frequently, but would like to access just a few times during the year. If that's the case, it may be best to leave them off of the computer until they are needed again so that the device has more hard drive space available.

Other ideas include deleting old or duplicate files that are no longer needed and going through your files and creating better organized folders or editing file names so that they are easier to find when you are looking for them.

It is also a good idea to check for device updates and perform a scan of your system using antivirus software.

We strive to look out for the best interest of our customers and their procurement in the IT venue. Be it hardware, software or service related, we want to guide you in the most effective manner possible.
