Our June Meeting
Bethany O'Rear got all of us excited about August's Great Southeast Pollinator Census! (She didn't know that inviting her to speak was just an excuse to make sure she was there so we could present her with a cake for being the recipient of this year's Gary Murray Award for Outstanding Service and Dedication). Enjoy Patricia's pictures from the meeting here.

**Important Message for Master Gardeners from Auburn**
If you volunteer with youth (individuals under 18) as part of the Extension Master Gardener (EMG) program, Auburn University requires you to complete training on protecting minors. This training is essential to help you understand your responsibilities as a Mandatory Reporter, which is explained in the course.
Action Required:
-
Register and complete the online training in the Youth Protection Portal, https://aub.ie/ypp-portal.
- Be sure to save the confirmation email once your training is complete.
The EMG program is part of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, the outreach arm of Alabama A&M University and Auburn University. You can learn more about Auburn’s Youth Protection Policy here, Youth Protection Policy.
Important Guidelines for Youth Programs:
- EMG Volunteers may only serve as Supervised Program Staff. A school teacher or program sponsor must be physically present at all times.
- For public events, parents or guardians are the supervising adults.
Examples:
- At 4-H events, Extension agents are always present.
- At summer camps (e.g., Birmingham Botanical Gardens), educational staff are always on-site.
