October 17, 2019
Dear All Saints' Parents and Families,
Here's what's coming up in the wonderful world of Children's Ministries!

Also, please don't forget to sign up to volunteer with Little Saints' Church and Children's Church (scroll down to the "Reminders" section)!
Parenting with God Formation Series
Sundays, October 20, 27 and November 10
10:20 to 11:05 a.m. in the Shaffer Room

Join me and other parents as we continue the journey! Discussion will be centered around the book, Bless This Mess by the Rev. Molly Baskette and Ellen O’Donnell, PhD. The book contains practical parenting suggestions that help families psychologically and spiritually while maintaining their progressive values: How do we teach the art of forgiving and serving others? How do we raise kids who are tolerant, curious, and honorable? And what about the sex talk? You do not have to have read the book, it will simply be a resource for our discussions. Come share and learn together with other saints no matter where you are on this parenting journey.

As a lead in or reminder for our discussion, take a look at this parenting article, "What Kind Of Parent Are You: Carpenter Or Gardener?"
Little Saints' Lunch and Play
Sunday, November 17
12:15 p.m. in Ellis Hall

If you have a child in the nursery, please mark your calendar for lunch and playtime on November 17 after the 11:15 a.m. worship service!.

It can be difficult to meet folks when you are shepherding small humans (some joyful and some not so much!) into nursery care right before church or picking them up and running to lunch. Let’s take a breath and sit with and enjoy each other over a meal.

We'll have a very simple lunch, you can bring an easy dessert or cookies, and we'll let the kid s play while we socialize and get to know other families who are in similar stages on this wonderful parenting journey.

Please RSVP to me (Kathy Roberts) at kroberts@allsaintsatlanta.org .
Undie Sunday
Sunday, October 27

We want to have a HUGE offering of underwear to give to Threads, our children's clothing ministry! Bring a pack of underwear to church (or to Harry Potter Night) on Undie Sunday (or even this week)! The collection bin is already in Ellis Hall Foyer. Threads need all sizes and all kinds!
Harry Potter Night
Sunday, October 27

Join us for a magical evening of Harry Potter-themed worship, fellowship, and fun. Costumes (of all sorts) encouraged!

Trunk or Treat
4:30 p.m., Kennedy Courtyard
Trunk or treat through Diagon Alley (a.k.a Kennedy Courtyard) with Harry Potter characters and friends from our Refugee Ministries program. Our Primary and Cherub Choirs will also sing during this event! If you want to pick up an extra bag of candy to donate for our trunks, just drop it by the front desk during the week or in red bucket in Ellis Foyer on Sunday.

Holy Eucharist: Harry Potter and the Theological Imagination
5:30 p.m., Ellis Hall, Parish House
Celebrate Eucharist in the Great Hall (a.k.a. Ellis Hall), then eat a Hogwarts-style feast and enjoy the movie “Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets” afterward.
Last Week
Last Sunday, we had a great time handing out all of the love gifts that we have made over the last month on Sundays and Wednesday nights.

The lessons learned:
  1. That all God’s children are beloved and equal in God’s sight.
  2. That we strive to live by the New Testament commandment to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves.
  3. That we give our love freely with no strings attached, simply because we are called to do so. And in doing that, our hearts are refilled to overflowing with love. That is the circular, holy, amazing stuff of DOING compassion and love. That is a BaBOOMBa!
Reminders
PLEASE VOLUNTEER!
