Pastor Trudy's message

Mountains and valleys—real and metaphorical! Jesus is trying to tell his disciples everything that is going to happen in Jerusalem and Peter protests, 'This will never happen to you!'. Jesus calls him Satan and a stumbling block, which seems like a low point in the story. Only a few verses later, though, Peter is chosen for a special mission to the mountain top. Maybe this story can help us hold our misunderstandings and mistakes with some grace and compassion...and then watch for the mountaintop moment that often follows.

Good and gracious God, You hold us with compassion and grace, and then challenge us to grow. Help us to find You with us in the valleys and on the mountaintops and on the journey in between. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Why do people act different than they really are? (from a Confirmation student)

• John Svach
• Curt Cowell, Brandy Hunter's father
• The people of Syria and Turkey, rescuers, and aid organizations following the earthquakes
• Feed the Need volunteers, donors, and those who will receive the meals

• Victims of violence and those dealing with long term trauma from violence
• Gratitude for all the ways we can be changed and initiate change

Through your giving to GLC, you are already supporting aid efforts in Syria and Turkey.
