Uniting Agriculture and Health Care to Support Food as Medicine for All

Dear Community,

We are less than two months away from the 2026 Food as Medicine For All - Livestream Conference, and we are honored to introduce another inspiring speaker who will challenge us to think differently about what it takes to build more effective, equitable systems of care.

Overcoming Barriers/Bridging Gaps at the Speed of Trust

HealthierHere, the Accountable Community of Health for King County, Washington, operates a community care hub that brings together community based organizations with deep, trusted relationships with underserved populations.

Through this network, HealthierHere connects people to the support they need, including case management and community care navigation to nutrition assistance, housing, behavioral health, and other social care services.

In this interactive session, we will explore the challenges of maintaining relationship driven care at the client level while operating at scale to demonstrate the need for systems transformation to make care delivery more effective.

The goal is not simply to connect people to services. It is to build systems that make meaningful connections possible at the speed of trust.

Speaker Spotlight: John Kim, JD, CEO of HealthierHere

John Kim is the CEO of HealthierHere, a cross-sector Accountable Community of Health collaborative, which elevates community voice into system transformation to achieve health equity. He is also a Community Advisory Board member for the Health Promotion Research Center at University of Washington and a board member of the YMCA of Greater Seattle. John’s professional experience includes a diverse mix of settings from a national healthcare law practice to hospital senior management to social justice and equity focused community organizations. Mr. Kim graduated with a JD from New York University School of Law and a BA in Government from Dartmouth College.

The countdown to the conference is underway, and there is still time to register and join a growing community bringing health care and agriculture together, including farmers, fishers, ranchers, and others working across the food system. Together, we will explore how stronger connections across these fields can help create more equitable food systems that improve the health and well-being of individuals, strengthen communities, and support a healthier planet.

We look forward to learning alongside you, exchanging ideas, and continuing this important conversation at the conference.

With Gratitude,

The Food as Medicine Global Team

Our Why

The idea of food as medicine resonates with many in health care and food production. Nutrition is increasingly integrated into health professional training, patient care, and discussions around farming, fishing, ranching, and other food systems. However, people across many communities who want to eat well cannot access healthy or even enough food. Many of those producing and providing our food and health care navigate a multitude of inequities.

Join us in supporting a more equitable and inclusive food as medicine movement!
