Greetings!
This past Wednesday during our school leader Zoom time together, Tim Hunt, Executive Director for Planning and Mission Effectiveness, presented on the importance of the Synod at this time in our Church’s history. The essential question that will be asked of all, “What is the Holy Spirit saying to our Church today?”
An especially poignant quote from Pope Francis speaks of the goal and the possible outcomes:
The synod "is intended to inspire people to dream about the Church we are called to be; to make people's hopes flourish; to stimulate trust; to bind up wounds; to weave new and deeper relationships; to learn from one another; to build bridges; to enlighten minds; warm hearts; and restore strength to our hands for our common mission."
Tim’s request of us, to become involved in the Synod efforts, to be aware of the importance of this event at this time, to encourage your community participation, and if possible, to work with your parish leadership to identify coordinators for the local discussions due to take place. This week, you and your community, are invited to attend an Open House on November 16 or 17. This is your opportunity to learn more about the synod and synodality, and provide an initial glimpse at the training under development. Tuesday night’s session will be held in English and Wednesday night’s session will be held in Spanish. Each session will begin at 5:00 pm and last 1 hour.
