CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - October 2026

Construction activities are occurring throughout the project corridor. Throughout October, activities include utility relocation, drainage and waterline work, grading, concrete work, and roadway removal. Work will generally occur Monday through Friday during daytime (7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and nighttime (9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) hours.

What to Expect:

  • Slow down; watch for signage, construction vehicles, and crew members throughout the corridor.
  • Expect intermittent nighttime lane closures; allow extra time to reach your destination and use alternate routes as possible.
  • Stay alert; traffic patterns may shift towards the median or shoulder in the project corridor
  • Work may be loud, and there may be bright lights.

Motorists should expect active construction throughout the corridor and are advised to use caution when traveling through the area.

Crews are installing wooden formwork and bracing to prepare the area for concrete placement. These temporary supports help shape and hold the concrete in place as it’s poured, laying the groundwork for the next phase of construction.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The US 395 Widening Project Phase 2 is designed to improve traffic flow, safety, and regional connectivity along one of Southern California’s key north-south transportation corridors. This nearly seven-mile improvement project extends between Interstate 15 (I-15) and State Route 18 (SR-18/Palmdale Road) and will enhance access for residents, businesses, freight movement, and travelers throughout the High Desert region. US 395 will be widened from two lanes to four lanes between I-15 and SR-18 (Palmdale Road). Additional improvements include the construction of a raised median, new turning lanes, and eight-foot shoulders throughout the corridor to improve roadway safety, mobility, and overall travel reliability. Once completed, the project will help reduce congestion, improve freight operations, and support continued growth and economic development in the region.

All construction is dynamic, weather-permitting, and the schedule is subject to change.
