Oppose forest destruction and police militarization
Take action today to Stop Cop City!
City officials in Atlanta, Georgia are trying to build a massive police compound in the Weelaunee Forest. The compound will be used to train police forces from around the world to practice militarized tactics for urban warfare. Its development would destroy a forest known as one of Atlanta’s “lungs” during the climate crisis.

Forest defenders and others are calling for global solidarity to help stop this project of destruction and brutality.

Find more information in this WILPF International article. Also, see end for more resources.

There are many opportunities to take action.

Choose an action and show solidarity!
Sign petitions and statements:

Contact city officials and contractors:
  • Contact Mayor Dickens and the City Council and tell them to Stop Cop City and cancel the lease of forest land to the Atlanta Police Foundation.
  • Contact Board Members of Atlanta Police Foundation and demand that they denounce Cop City and leave the APF Board.
  • Contact the contractors and subcontractors working on Cop City and tell them to pull out of the project (there has been some success with this already, showing that it’s an extremely useful technique to stigmatize work on this facility). There are many companies involved, across North America, so there are lots of targets. One big push right now is for folks to call investment firm GI Partners, which just bought a Cop City contractor a few weeks ago. (See “big push” link above for phone number and other details.)

Divest and invest:
  • Divest your money from the banks supporting Cop City: Bank of America, Chase, Wells Fargo, Merrill Lynch, Truist Bank, or encourage them to divest from Cop City.
  • If your phone plan is with AT&T, call on them to divest from Cop City and/or switch your phone plan and make it clear why.
  • Stop Cop City solidarity has lots of other corporate targets you can contact. You can Tweet at them on social media, call them directly, or do direct actions outside their offices with signs and banners.
  • Donate to the Atlanta Solidarity Fund to help bail out arrested protesters and fund the legal effort to challenge the repression of this movement;
  • Donate to the family of Tortugita, the forest defender killed by Georgia State Patrol.
