Can you guess Luna's (fka Pixie) DNA?

Scroll to the end of the newsletter for the reveal.

Luna's new parents have this to say about her:

"We have always loved having dogs as part of our household, and our dogs have always been from a rescue agency.  The internet and PetFinder led us to Paws in Prison and I instantly feel in love with Pixie (now Luna) when I saw her photo and description on the Paws in Prison website.

Luna is the fourth rescue hound that we have adopted and it’s been a pleasure to have her as our newest family member.  I am really pleased with her behavior and training.  She knows all her commands and gets along well with other dogs and people.   Rescue dogs often come with a number of issues that one must work through, but Luna has been largely trouble-free.  While we are still adjusting to her exuberance and boundless energy, Luna’s personality and antics bring us plenty of laughs.

Luna loves to go for a walk every day and looks forward to visits to the local dog park.  She already has a number of dog buddies that she chases and wrestles with.   Her wonderment the first time she saw a squirrel run across the backyard brought a smile, but her fur-sister (a Chihuahua mix that we’ve had for years) taught her that squirrels are little balls of hair with legs that are made for chasing."

Sounds like Luna hit the jackpot! Thanks to her new family's support, Luna is also featured in the 2025 calendar. Buy yours in the link below!

TRAINING TIP: Starting a solid stay!

Step 1: Put your dog in a sit or down, say the command “Sit” and give the treat! Repeat!

Step 2: Make sure to release your dog from this command before they break it! If they happen to move before the release just start over.

*Tip: Don’t add distance until your dog understands the command! Stay means stay!

Step 3: Test your command by adding subtle distraction while still no distance, is your command solid! If not go back and start over!

A solid foundation is built a little at a time!
