Annual 5K Race & Improving Event Process for 2020
Have you signed up to participate in the Ossining MATTERS 5k run/2M walk happening this Saturday? Click here for more information and to register . Join hundreds of residents in this annual opportunity to support educational enrichment programs while enjoying a run/walk in downtown and on the Aqueduct Trail.

Last Wednesday we passed two new laws updating Village codes related to plumbing (Proposed Local Law 5) and electrical (Proposed Local Law 4) permits. Click here to view 2019 local laws . The Village Board also voted to support grant applications for two projects related to the Ossining Water System. The first could offset the cost of the new water treatment facility by as as much as $10M. The second grant application is related to a water main replacement project adjacent to Route 9A. The Ossining Water System serves residents both in the Village and the Unincorporated Town.

During Continuing Business the Village Board and staff engaged in a spirited discussion related to how we can do a better job facilitating events in our community. All agreed that past practices have been inconsistent. The need for a new path forward is accentuated thanks to a notable increase in the number of organizations seeking to hold events in our enthusiastically growing community. We are fortunate to have a Village management team and staff that is committed to establishing a process for 2020 that both addresses the needs of the community and welcomes events that positively impact Ossining.

Work Session
This week's work session is scheduled to begin at 8PM. The delayed start time is because the Village Board and staff will be attending the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the waterfront, which begins at 7PM. The precise start time of the work session will depend on exactly when we arrive at Village Hall after the program. We will not begin before 8PM. The work session agenda includes a discussion of changes to the zoning code that will increase our ability to notify community members when neighboring properties are appearing before land use boards with proposed changes or new projects. When folks are aware of proposals early in the review process, they have a greater ability to influence decision making considerations. To view the work session agenda, click here . We will also hold a brief special session this week, and you may click here to view that agenda .

Work sessions are forums when the Village Board meets with staff and experts to become informed on potential action to be taken, and generally is not open for public comment. However, the public is invited to attend in person or to watch the meeting on television, the village website , or YouTube .

With Regards,
Victoria Gearity, Ossining Mayor
Remembrance Ceremony
Please join us for this year’s Remembrance Ceremony. It is always a moving program that brings our community together.

It’s hard to believe it has been 18 years since 9/11. The stories shared at events like this are a way that we collectively ensure we never forget.

Thank you to all our local first responders who organize this event each year.
