DADE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE VISITS DES

What a special week of learning at DES! All four of our Pre-K classes were lucky to welcome some very special guest readers into our classrooms! Dade County Sheriff's Deputies took time out of their busy schedules to visit us, share stories, and help make our GA Pre-K Week celebration extra meaningful. Our little learners were also excited to get an up-close look at our very own SRO, Officer Lawson’s police car! The students loved getting to explore the vehicle and learn a little more about how our officers help protect and serve our community and school. A HUGE thank-you to our parent and grandparent guest readers, Officer Lawson, our School Resource Officer, and the Dade County Sheriff’s Department for taking the time to pour into our little learners and for all you do to keep our school and community safe. Your service does not go unnoticed, and we are so thankful for you! To see more photos, click HERE. 👊👏💪 #TeamDadeGa

DIA de LOS MUERTOS EVENT AT DCHS

DCHS had an incredible turnout for the DCS Fine Arts and Spanish department "Dia de los Muertos" event on Thursday, October 22nd. The audience entered by walking past an ofrenda featuring photos of loved ones who had passed away, followed by a gallery of art created by our 3rd-12th grade visual arts students, inspired by the themes and colors of this Latin culture event. They were delighted to taste churros from Los Tres and Mexican hot chocolate prepared by our FCCLA officers. The evening featured performances in the round by our DCHS Band, DCHS Theatre actors, DCHS Mixed Chorus, and DMS 6th & 8th Grade Chorus, introduced in English and Spanish by our Spanish 1 & 2 students. The whole evening was a beautiful display of cross-curricular collaboration between our schools, teachers, and community. To see more photos from the event, click HERE. 👊👏💪 #TeamDadeGa
