Settle into September
The initial back-to-school rush is officially behind us! We’ve completed three full weeks of school, and now that the new supplies are all in use and routines are well-established, it’s the perfect time to shift from preparing to performing. This is the moment to reinforce the study habits you've started and settle into a strong rhythm of learning. By now, you should have a dedicated homework space and a smooth schedule in place. Let’s keep this positive momentum going as we head into a productive and successful rest of September!

School Attendance
Staying Healthy for a Great School Year
A successful school year starts with good health. Consistent attendance is crucial for learning, and a healthy lifestyle is the key to being present and ready to learn. Encourage your child to get plenty of rest, eat nutritious meals, and stay active. These habits not only boost their immune system, helping to ward off illnesses, but also improve their focus and energy levels in the classroom. By prioritizing their well-being, you're not just helping them stay in school—you're helping them thrive academically and socially. Let's work together to make health a priority for every student.
If your child does get sick, as will happen from time to time, please be sure to send them to school with a doctor’s note or a written excuse from home upon their return. This helps us accurately record absences and ensure we are following all attendance policies. Reach out to the teacher for missed assignments and check in with your child to ensure that their work is complete and that they are caught up on missed concepts.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our school community healthy and informed.

Arrive on time. Stay all day.
Getting to school on time each morning is the start to a successful school year. Late arrivals not only cause students to miss important announcements and work, it also sets the tone for their day.
Schedule appointments during after school hours if possible. Early check-outs disrupt teaching and learning in the classroom.
| | If you prefer that your child's photo or video isn't used in school or district publications, such as Tangischools social media or websites, you can easily let us know. Reach out to your child's school to request a Photo Opt-Out form. | | | | |

Gun Safety Program for K-4th Grade Students - Coming to a School Near You!
We would like to inform you about a gun safety program that will be implemented in grades K-4, starting in September. The Eddie Eagle GunSafe® program is a gun accident prevention program that, for over 30 years, has helped keep kids safe. The program was developed by a task force comprising educators, school administrators, curriculum specialists, urban housing safety officials, clinical psychologists, law enforcement officials, and National Rifle Association firearm safety experts. It began in 1988 with one mission: teach children four simple, easy-to-remember steps so they know what to do if they ever come across a gun. Eddie and his friends are focused on telling children that if they see a gun, they need to Stop! Don't touch. Run away. Tell a grown-up.

Tangipahoa Parish School System is committed to keeping our students safe, and this gun safety program is one way we can proactively protect students. The program will be delivered by Lt. Don Alexander of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office. The program includes this video and a discussion of gun safety procedures. If you would like more information on the program, please visit the Eddie Eagle and the Wing Team website. There are additional resources for families to continue gun safety education with children.
If you know something, say something.
